I was so pleased to find the information about red raspberry leaf to help my huge Black Percheron mare. Every summer we would almost lose her to colic and dehydration. Huge vet bills every summer! I knew we had to be missing something. I finally started noticing that as we would go into this crisis cycle she was also in estrus. I not only had to change up her feed schedule but add the red raspberry leaf as a supplement. Her hormones would spike her body temperature high, which during the hot summer months and being almost 1800 lb and black we could not keep her hydrated and cooled down enough. Her digestion would slow, causing fermentation, gas buildup, and eventually a colicky gaseous impaction nearly taking us to colic surgery every summer. We've been going through this for 10 years now. It was getting ridiculous! Now I mark her cycle on my calendar. She gets Mare Magic daily as a top feed on pre-soaked alfalfa pellets, the other 50% of her feed now is Bermuda. As she goes into her cycle, I up her Bermuda to 75% of her feed until we get through her 7-day cycle. On the days of her cycle she gets Mare Magic twice a day. I either use it as a top feed or I mix it with some applesauce and use a big syringe to administer in her mouth first thing in the morning. It must taste nice because she acts like I'm giving her a treat in the morning when she sees me coming with the syringe. I'm a true believer in the natural things God provided on this planet. This is so much better than giving her chemicals to get through our crisis months. This supplement is inexpensive and easy to feed. She will be on it for the rest of her life. She is currently 17 years old.FYI if you happen to run out and need something while you're waiting for the Mare Magic to arrive just go to the grocery store to the herbal tea section and purchase a box of red raspberry leaf tea bags. You can mix them with applesauce to feed to the animal. I saw a difference in a giant horse within just the very first tea bag. Truly one of nature's wonders!
