I installed this to open left to right. Very solid door and does not warp. The frame is very solid, and I roughed out the opening to 14" square with 2x3's and it worked great. The flange on the frame covers the rough cut dry wall, and it looks very neat. The frame is attached to the 2x3's via screws in the frame. Overall, I am very happy with this access door. Very high quality.

I wanted a study clean access door with a lock so I could allow easy access to the plumbing under my bathroom … and this door fit the bill.It was actually easy to install since I planned my size to be the exact width between my support beams. So I didn’t have to use any helper studs.I should note this doesn’t come with screw, so some handy man skills will be needed.
