Was out on a quick video shoot and the sun was blaring. I popped this on and continued. I actually forgot I had it on and the video came out great.

I tried this nd variable and returned it as the dreaded “X” was very pronounced. May be better for smaller apps-c or other cropped sensors cameras but for full frame, I would not recommend. I ended up buying a fixed 10 stop nd and that works great.

It has worked great and never left my Tamron 17-50mm for Canon. Using on my Sony 24-70mm now and no issues. I have had this filter for 3 years and never had the black X problem personally but i can only imagine its a defective one or depends on the lens being used.

Just.... Plain.... Terrible.Bought this 67mm "standard" grade filter (NDX -- not the HDX which is apparently much better) for the Canon 18-135 kit lens on my 7D thinking it would save me lots of time (not to mention some dough), since I wouldn't have to change filters in the field. But boy, oh boy, did I make a mistake. Maybe I just got a bad one, but there is a purple color cast to all my photos. But far worse than the purple cast is the *uneven* light penetration at _EVERY_ density level, which produces an "X" pattern (brighter along one axis, and darker along the perpendicular axis) on every single photo. The "X" effect is most obvious at the "max" ND density level, but there is some "X" effect at all levels. The images are completely unusable. I've attached a sample photo in the hopes that this will help someone else avoid this $75 mistake.

As a filter it does what it is supposed to do but it does not allow the lens hood to install over it once installed on the lens. If the hood is installed prior to installing the filter it is difficult to install & operate the filter since there is so little clearance. I wish I had known the outer ring was so much larger than the filter itself so I could have allowed for the hood or gotten a different filter.

The filter fit well to my filter adapter. It blocked enough light to hold up to the sun and just barely see a sunspot. However, when I photographed an eclipse I noticed the image was slightly doubled. I was hoping to come out with better photos.
