I've never heard of a rain drum before and had to look up what it was all about. This is amazing!Made of metal. Very good quality.I love the purple color - makes me happy lol.Numbers were already on the spaces where you play the notes but another set came with this.The mallets are very small and lightweight and the perfect size to fit in my hand comfortably.The tones made on this rain drum are so soothing and relaxing. Almost like listening to my chimes lol.Came with a little booklet. 2 mallets. A carry/storage bag and a lot of other tiny things I'm not sure what to do with lol.I'm not sure how well you'd hear the tones in the rain? I think it would have to rain pretty hard and you'd need to be right at an open nearby window.Overall, this is a quality item but I'm not sure I'll really use it much because when I relax or mediate I typically don't use my hands or get involved with anything else. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Now, if someone else is using it ... it would be perfect!

I love these rain drums! And what I've discovered is the number of cutouts make a difference in the sound. I've included a video comparing this one and another one with fewer cutouts.This particular drum seems to be a little better made than the other ones I've received. It's got a nice plug on the bottom for when you want to truly leave it out in the rain to make sound. There's also a band around the sides that lets you pick it up easier-- they're kind of a weird shape and without the grip on the sides, it can slip pretty easily.I love the color of this drum, too, it's a gorgeous purple/eggplant. This is my favorite so far out of three.
