Fiberglass layers separated from adhesive backing under their own weight. I intended to use the insulation around a fireplace glass door, but the product was useless. The door was satisfactorily installed with different insulation

Have to be careful peeling off the adhesive or it will separate. Not a big issue if you are careful.

Installed easy and reduced the draft between our fireplace doors and the brick to almost nothing.

I used it for a completely different purpose… wrapped my shift cable with it so my exhaust can stop burning itIt’s been working great so far

easy to use and appears to be working, no cold air leaking from the gap after installation. the yellow color doesn't match edges of stone and the fireplace, if there's black color would be better.

I needed a better seal between a fireplace glass screen and the brick. This worked very well. No issues with adhesion. It will come apart if handled to much-- hard to stitch fibers that well in such a small application.
I’m sceptical…

It was an exact replacement for the existing insulation on my fireplace screen. Self adhesive and easy to install.

I am a fan of Rutland products, but this isn't one of their better ones. The adhesion that holds on the insulation is fine, but the insulation itself is in layers of fiberglass and literally falls apart. I stuck it on the woodstove plate, pushed it back into the fireplace, and then took a 4" putty knife and carefully tucked in the insulation that fell out.Rutland could fix this issue by simply using a fiberglass cloth rather than layered insulation. I will look around next time. And there will BE a next time for sure, because this stuff will fall apart when I pull the stove next spring. If you find a better product please comment to this review and let me know what you found.

I was looking for this item locally but the stores did not have it.This was ideal. It has a width of about 1.5 inches. The adhesive does stick to anything and that is what I wanted. The fiberglass wool strip does not fall apart and it a little more than an inch thick. I placed the strips of fiberglass wool on the fireplace metalframe and pushed the frame with the doors onto the brick structure. I sealed the frame to the brick with high heat clear silicone sealer which was available online. It tolerates heat to 500 degrees. No smoke leaks out into the home. I also put in a new damper which I found at Amazon.com and it came in caste iron for the exact size of the original. It slipped into the slot in less than a minute and it has been working fine since weeks. As an after thought, I should mention that I bolted the frame back into the fireplace opening with the old bolts into the same holes. The silicone sealer was just for good measure and I do not like smoke coming into the house.
