I must have for hiking with your dogs when you let them off leash. You can keep these short leashes clipped to their collars, and if some non-dog person comes along and freaks out you can always grab the dog and hold it by the short leash.

We have a 70 lb American staffy. He's about 18 inches at the shoulder. This is the perfect length to hold him without tugging much on his neck, and it keeps him right next to me. The strap is thick with what feels like a little padding, so it doesn't cut into my hand at all like a nylon leash would. Comfy to hold even when he is trying to pull.

The inside material is soft, but not entirely comfortable. It feels similar to the material wetsuits are made from, so it doesn't slide across your skin as your hand moves (like the handle on my other lead does).It's not bad, but I don't really like it. I do have sensory issues though, so maybe it's related to that. I'll be keeping it for now, and if I can't get used to it then I'll definitely be but a better quality handle!

This is a great short leash if you need one, very robust and capable of handling the largest of breeds. I keep one in my travel bag when I have to fly along with a nice padlock for those just-in-case moments. It works well in this configuration and gets through TSA every time as long as the two are not connected at the time.
