I didn’t purchase mine thru Amazon, but I had to leave a review. As a voice actor I already have a Sennheisher MKH416 that I love for commercials and promos but wanted something for the more softer reads and long form narrations. I was struggling with whether I wanted the TLM103 because depending on the day I can struggle with some semblance and the 103 really brings that to the forefront. I was working with a sound engineer who suggested the Shure KSM44I looked at the specs and felt it was an all around good mic but might be overkill for me as I will only use it for voice over, so I didn’t need the different polar patterns. That’s when I discovered Shure made a special mic just for voice, the KSM42. Can I say DING DING DING we have a winner! I love my 416 and she still has her place but my KSM42 is my forever mic. It literally captured my true voice, it requires little to no EQ in post and I have been told my audio sits in the mix well. The mic has low self noise and believe it or not is good at noise rejection even though it is a large condenser mic, it captures the voice that is right in front of it. You can literally eat this mic, get right up on it and you won’t hear a rumble.....The sweet spot is huge on this baby! Plosives....... NONE the mic has an internal pop filter and they include a magnetic one which is freaking genius! Not to mention they include the shockmount.I really don’t understand why this mic isn’t rated right up there with the Neuman and more widely known in voice over, this is a hidden gem and well worth every penny.

After researching for months what microphones I wanted I confidently decided on the Shure KSM 42 vocal microphone. After unboxing it and hooking this amazing piece of hardware up, I must say that all of the reviews and videos do not do this thing justice. No regrets regarding paying for it. Worth it.

Yeah yeah sorry for the pun, but this is one fine piece of equipment. I do voice overs for various companies and video games and I needed to upgrade. Like I said this thing is amazing, crisp clean sound, you can scream into it and there's rarely any peaking. I absolutely love this mic, and my clients love the sound! It does come with the mic (duh), a pouch, shock mount, magnetic pop-filter, and mic stand adapter all nice and in it's place in a sleek aluminum case.
