We'll See.......Looks like it should hold up better than the painted versions

If you are installing a filter, best to use SS.

Just after opening the package i grabbed a magnet off the refrigerator and it sticks, but not as strong as it would to mild steel. This means it is not 304 or 316 stainless and will be prone to corrosion.

I've had this filter bracket installed in my Whaler since 2016. As of 05/2020 there is a very light discoloration or patina of surface corrosion. It's very light, probably easily removed but so light it doesn't bother me. My Whaler is 30 years old and I expect this bracket to last many, many seasons, well past me. Previously I'd only get 2 or 3 seasons from the cast aluminum filter brackets.

I've used this bracket on several boats after having one of the powder coated ones years ago. They do not corrode and there are other brands of fuel filters that will fit it if you don't prefer a Sierra filter.

Awesome - Nice to see something this heavily made. Solid stainless. I didn't want plastic, and not putting mild steel below the deck, as I fish salt water.

This is a gem of a fuel filter holder. It is nicely machined, seals up fine and looks good in the back of my Whaler. It will accept most any standard fuel filter, and in a pinch one could use an oil filter to get thru the day. I use the short stubby ones as space is a factor. Previously I had a similar setup, but the smaller version from another company. The problem was that I had to buy the sediment bowl along with the filter each year. Too expensive, plus you really don't need the bowl. At the end of each season filter is removed and the fuel poured into a glass container. If no water is present, then it is poured back into the filter and back onto the holder for the next season. If water is there, then the filter is replaced. I replace the filter every third year, water or not. Best to keep a spare filter on the boat in case of a load of bad gas. Somebody kick me off the soapbox. Anyway, this is a quality part and I'm happy to finally have one in place.
