The wool was very soft and well made mittens....would recommend if you wore as an insert to a larger shell type mitten, but on their own may not be very effective in colder and non windy cilimates.

I know, Smart Wool is a decent brand, so I bought these for running in very cold temperatures. The wind goes right through them and offers zero protection from the cold.

Both of my sons run year round and needed something for child weather. Neither one wanted a heavy glove. Mittens are great! They will sometimes put the hand warmer packs inside. They are light and don't trap a lot of moisture. I had to get a replacement par only because one set was borrowed by a friend.I wouldn't say these would be the best for sitting around mittens. They'd make a good base mitten inside heavier mittens.

These mittens are VERY thin, more like mitten liners, than actual mittens. They are not warm enough, when worn on their own, in cold winter weather.

I love these over my Smartwool knit gloves.On a 30°F day, just the gloves are sufficient for an asset, and then I layer with these mittens for extra warmth on the descent.I can use my phone screen with the gloves or the mittens. With both the screen only works sometimes.

Used these as a liner in a pair of size 10 Hestra mittens. They fit perfect! Also, the thumb works on my iPhone! My hands have never been so warm!
