I just purchased & received the Sony STRDH130 stereo receiver today from Amazon.com and unlike my prior 14 year old Sony AV stereo receiver, this newer unit is easier to connect to new fangled electronic devices such as flat screen LED/LCD TV sets compared to my older 14 year old Sony AV receiver. Also, this is a basic 2-channel stereo receiver and that's all I really need for my audio & video pleasures here at home. I had problems hooking up TV or video devices with the prior older Sony stereo receiver, but not with this newer Sony receiver.....I had everything hooked up correctly within 30 minutes of opening up the box and that simply made the purchase well worth it. Very completed remote control that handles everything comes with the receiver....as the same with my prior Sony stereo receiver also. Seems Sony makes a very thorough stereo remote control. My old Sony remote actually works with this newer Sony receiver...nice surprise. The stereo receiver unit itself is pretty basic and not cluttered and pretty easy to operate and very straight-forward with everything on this receiver. Sound quality is excellent and you can use 1 or 2 sets of speakers either set or both pairs of speakers at the same time, a very nice treat since I usually run 2 sets of speakers when viewing videos, watching local TV or listening to music on the tape deck or CD player. I have had fantastic luck with prior Sony stereo receivers and actually the old unit still works, but needed a smaller and less complicated one to use regularly and this new Sony receiver will "fill the bill" for me for many years to come. I am very pleased with this receiver and how it sounds.Pros include: easy to use, very good remote control, easy to connect stereo components and video items, looks very good, the sound quality is great, has separate bass and treble controls, price is low considering the power you get with this receiver and finally.....the power this unit puts out is great!!Cons include: I could not anything negative about this receiver yet.If you just need a basic high-powered 2-channel stereo receiver that sounds great and don't really want to spend a lot of money on it and still get a well-known name-brand unit, this Sony STRDH130 stereo receiver should do the job just fine.I have given this unit 5 of 5 stars because simply it is a great receiver.I may do updates to my review here as the months go by and any negatives I find at that time, I will post here.

Always liked Sony. This is a fantastic receiver for the money. Just wanted a 2 channel to drive some Paradigm Atoms for TV, movies, music. Replacing an old Techniques amp. I am overjoyed with my purchase. USB connection would be nice on this amp for MP3 player etc. but no big deal.

Good sound and the controls on receiver are intuitive and easy to use. If you lose the remote, you could easily get by with the receiver's controls. The bare bones basics are there. I enjoy plugging in my smartphone and amplifying Pandora radio and appreciate Sony including the feature. The remote looks complex, but really isn't. It has half the controls of my vintage Pioneer. The remote allows this receiver to control lots of equipment, although I don't know if that only includes Sony products. I do not need it for any purpose other than FM and a Sony CD player, but it is nice to know that it has the capability. Plenty of power. I will miss the Pioneer's built in 7 band graphic equalizer, and a mid-range control would have helped soften that loss, but the bass and treble controls work nicely and I am fully satisfied. This unit may seem Spartan to some folks, but it has all the essentials and they have kept the price reasonable. Once predominant, stereo receivers are now a specialty niche, which Sony is covering nicely with this unit. Choosing this fine receiver over competing stereo receivers was an easy choice. This isn't a Chinese receiver with an 'audiophile' name plate stuck on it, this really IS a Sony, and Sony has been building electronics products as long as anybody. I have tried several surround sound systems and all I miss at all is possibly a sub woofer, which I may remedy soon. Stereo gives you depth and presence. It is all you really need. Anything more is just a gimmick. I had retired my 21 year old Pioneer stereo for a surround system, which disappointed me so badly that I gave it away and brought the Pioneer back until it croaked. This unit can't quite compete with an audiophile quality vintage Pioneer, but it is pretty darn good and a great buy for some decent wattage. I would never recommend anything less than 100 watts per channel. By the way, it does not appear to have a phono pre-amp. Just buy a low cost Sony turntable with a built-in pre-amp if you are into vinyl.
