HOW TO WORK?
★ 1. Wrap free-end clamps 3/8"" or 1/4"" roll band and clip around and clip around boot.
★ 2. Place a 1/2"" ratchet wrench on the winding mandrel and turn. When sufficient tension has been applied, rotate the tool over the boot, bending the band back onto the clip.
★ 3.It applies tension and has a built-in cutter.
★ 4. To complete clamping, fold down the remaining tail of the band into the clip and secure it by tapping down the ears of the clip.

I have used this kit on a UTV cv axle and on a rear drive-line slip yoke boot replacement for a truck. I took the pliers to my bench grinder to get a better bite on the pinch area of the clamp. They could've just been made with a better angle. It's been handy and got it to work. Glad I got it. I've never figured out how to used the other tool and never needed to use it.

So the tool is cool and it works well but not with the clamps they send with it. The clamps that come with it are the tooth style with a pinch tool which does work well. The main tool is for a completely different band which you can get from AutoZone.

This set only comes with the crimp style clamps. I have never had to use these before and drove me crazy figuring out how to use the banding tool with provided clamps. Turns out you don't need the banding tool at all with them. The banner is for a style clamp that is not provided with the kit. So I feel this was a waste of my money because all I needed was the crimpers.
