My first meter lasted about a month before complete failure, the second lasted about 1 week. I recommend finding another company for your meter.

I don't have anything to test this against, but it seems reasonably accurate and it settles to a solid reading quickly. iIlike it better than the more expensive one it replaced.

INKBIRD ITDS-01 Water TDS Meter, Accuracy - TDS 0~4995 ± 2%, EC 0~9990 μS/cm ± 4%, Temperature 0°C~80.0°C ± 0.5°C. I have just started using this meter to replace a YL-TDS2-A meter. It works fine for fresh water measurements but is limited in useful range for hydroponics. This meter can be calibrated using a reference solution warmed to 25°C. Choose a solution EC near the range of interest (3000 μS/cm or lower works best). Press the HOLD button for 3-seconds to initiate calibration. Use SHIFT button to cycle through 0-150%, if you overshoot the desired value, you have to go around again. Press HOLD button once to exit calibration. The meters temperature sensor has its own stainless thermal well which gives the meter a fast temperature response. The ± 4% EC accuracy is not described well, is it ±4% of reading or ±4% of full range? After calibrating the meter with both NaCl and KCl test solutions, I was only able to stay within ±4% of reading in the 10 to 2500 μS/cm range. Above this range the error was > 4%. I have had the meter reset itself causing the loss of the calibration value. I would recommend writing down the calibration value and check it each time before use. Maybe InkBird will make the calibration non-volatile in subsequent releases.Pros:InexpensiveWorks well for EC levels Has replaceable AAA batteries and even works with rechargeables.Temperature is displayed at the same time as EC (or TDS).HOLD function holds both temperature and EC (or TDS) readings.Temperature response is fairly fast, typically settles in Cons:Cannot calibrate meter for EC levels much above 3000 μS/cm due to non-linearity errors.Meter response is non-linear with both NaCl and KCl calibration solutions.Meter is inaccurate at EC levels > 3500 μS/cm. At 8000 μS/cm, the meter reads ~1000 μS/cm low.Single point calibration only. A linearized output with KCl calibration solution would help.Calibration value is volatile. If meter resets for any reason, the cal value is lost and defaults to 100%.Probe cap is tight but easily solvable by leaving it off (dry is okay for an EC meter). The display back-light times out too quickly ~ 10 seconds. Should stay on at least 30 seconds.

Skip the cheap TDS meters and get this. I use mine a lot in my shrimp tanks to help me keeping the TDS stable. When my cheapo meter stopped working, I got this. I love the backlit screen and the solid feel. While I cannot say how accurate the TDS measurement is (it's at least similar to my older meter), it measures temperatures accurately. Here, I set my aquarium heater to 25C to heat up 5G of water, and then compared the temperature measurement with my very accurate Fluke DMV readout. Same temperature. I also like that I can use AAA batteries.Just like other users, I had to learn which cap is for the probes and which for the batteries, and just like others, I am clueless as to why I have to press the on-button for several seconds before the display turns on. Other than that, this is a great meter, and I recommend it.

I like how easy it is to use. I don't like how hard it is to get the cap off the probe. I have arthritis and it's really hard to get this cap off. Also the battery cap needs a lock. I opened it by mistake and the batteries flew out.Probe seems accurate in comparison to two other ones I own.

When it comes to measuring and controlling my indoor garden's environment Inkbird is the brand that I trust the most for accuracy, value, quality and endurance. I just purchased a Hypochlorous Acid Generator which requires an accurate ppm meter to achieve the proper ratios - I have a ver expensive TDS meter but I wanted to dedicate a meter strictly for this purpose as I will be making a lot of his solution - When Inkbird came out with this meter I decided to buy it and test it against my expensive meter - The accuracy was exactly the same. This meter is easy to use and read - it is perfect - I have done business with this compny before and their customer service goes above and beyond - I highly recommend this product and company A++++ all-the-way.
