I have a few tall trees in my yard, and although this wasn’t intended for my use case, it works great. Rather than climbing on a ladder to put my Christmas lights up I use this telescoping pole.I love that it is light. It can be held with one hand quite easily although normally I use the pole with two hands. It is around five feet tall out of the box and can be expanded to around three times that if you use both of the telescoping elements. It comes with two different hooks, one with rubber tips and another plastic tips. Not sure why you’d want to use one over another. There are two foam handles on the pole, and where I use this in the cold it’s nice to not have to hold a cold bare metal pole. This could be used for window cleaning, painting, car washing, or anything else that requires a long pole if you get the right attachment for the end. It seems like the standard screw top that I’ve used with my other attachments.Great quality. Price of around $40 seems like a fair value.

While I have experience with cabin cruisers and small sail boats, I do not currently own one. I ordered this extension pole/hook to reach locations that are unsafe to use a ladder to reach – primarily my steeply pitched roof that sometimes has tree branches on it from windstorms. My first use was to fetch my wife’s favorite porcelain cat figurine from under the deck where a frisky raccoon had pushed it (they like to play with things on the deck – we live in the woods) – see pic. The pole is very sturdy, no sagging. To extend it, just flip up the locking tabs (see pic), extend, then relock. It comes with two types of hooks. One of the hooks has a glow-in-the-dark knob on it – very useful to tell where the end of the pole is in the dark when fetching something from the water. After only a few minutes outside, the knob absorbed enough to be visible in the house (see fuzzy pic). The set comes with a catalog from the seller which shows other attachments you can get as well as different lengths from 3 feet to 30 feet. I am very pleased with this order.NOTE: During my first use, I discovered that the hook needs to be tight, otherwise it can twist and start to unscrew while trying to fetch/hook something. Not a defect, I should have tightened it more before use.

I recently ordered this 12ft Telescoping Boat Hook Pole for my weekend boating trips, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite accessories! The adjustable length—from about 4ft collapsed to a full 12ft extended—makes it incredibly versatile. I use it mostly for docking my 18ft bow rider and it’s been a lifesaver for grabbing lines or pushing off the dock without any awkward stretching or leaning over the edge. The build quality is impressive. It’s made of lightweight aluminum, so it’s easy to handle, but it still feels sturdy and durable. The telescoping mechanism locks securely with a simple twist, and I haven’t had any issues with it slipping, even when I’m putting some force into pushing or pulling. Storage is a breeze since it collapses down to a compact size that fits perfectly in my ski locker. I’ve even used it to retrieve a hat that blew into the water, so it’s proving to be more useful than I expected.

If you have a boat, you've probably discovered that the secret to drama-free docking is not your excellent piloting skills but rather getting "close enough" and then pulling yourself in snug with a good boat hook. For that purpose, this one is better than most. My other boat hooks are a bit flimsier when fully extended and also have a twist-top locking mechanism that is difficult to operate in the heat of battle. As a result, we would usually store the hook in fully-extended position so it was ready when needed. The flip locks on this one, similar to a tripod, are WAY easier to use and they hold tighter as well. Thus, we can store our hook in the gunnel in compacted form and then easily get it out and extend it when it comes time to use it.I think it's cool that this is being billed as a multipurpose tool that can also be used for painting and cleaning around the house. Many of us were already using our boat hooks in that way. Here, because this is by far the favorite boat hook, it's going to stay on the boat. As a result, we will probably glue down the hook piece to keep it more secure.
