About this item

  • MILK OOLONG: A Cup of Abundance – Famous for its “milky” taste and silky texture, the large, tightly-rolled leaves have the alluring fragrance of sweet cream and pineapple. The flavor is smooth with light, orchid notes. Oolong tea gets its alluring character through a meticulous process in which the leaves are shaken until the perfect oxidation level has been reached, as judged only by sight, aroma and touch.
  • OOLONG TEA: With origins in Taiwan and southeast China, the best oolong tea is produced when tea leaves are oxidized in direct sunlight until they give off a precise and pleasant fragrance — somewhere between apples, orchids and peaches. This delightful, hand-processed, green oolong is grown in the Fujian Province in China.
  • STEEPING INSTRUCTIONS: Fill your kettle with fresh, filtered water and heat to just short of boiling. Place one teaspoon of leaves per 6 oz water into your pot or infusing basket. Pour the heated water over tea leaves and infuse for 5–7 minutes. Experiment to find your favored steeping time. Remove tea leaves and enjoy, Sip by Sip. Great for multiple infusions! For iced tea, double the amount of tea leaves used and pour over a generous amount of ice.
  • INGREDIENTS: Oolong tea and natural flavors.
  • BENEFITS: Because white, green, oolong and black teas are all derived from the Camellia sinensis bush, it is true that they share many of the same benefits and properties. Oolong teas contain all of the same polyphenol antioxidants as other teas, including catechins, thearubigin and theaflavin. For many tea drinkers, oolong tea strikes the perfect balance between “too much” and “not enough” caffeine, allowing them to enjoy the mental alertness and clean burst of energy, without jitters or sensitivity.

What is Oolong Tea?

As is the case with all true teas, oolong tea is derived from the Camellia sinensis plant. But if all of these tea varietals are made from the same plant species, then what makes them so unique? It all depends on climate and processing. Oolong tea is partially oxidized, meaning that it falls somewhere between green and black tea in terms of flavor, strength, aroma and caffeine. This partial oxidation is what gives oolongs the unique, alluring characteristics that many tea drinkers know and love.

Hand-Plucked Leaves From

Fujian Province of China

The best oolong tea is typically grown and cultivated in cool, lush climates, such as the Fujian Province of China. After hand-plucking, partial oxidation allows oolong’s flavor profile to be incredibly diverse. Oolong tea can be light-bodied and grassy like green tea or rich and nutty like black tea. Bright and citrusy oolong tea falls right in between. Whether you prefer oolong that falls closer to green tea, black tea, or right in the middle, there is an option to suit every palate.

Longing for Oolong

Oolong tea gets its alluring character through a meticulous process in which the leaves are shaken until the perfect oxidation level has been reached, as judged only by sight, aroma and touch.

I was very disappointed in this milk oolong tea from China. I was expecting it to have the flavor profile of the Taiwanese Milk Oolong but it was vastly inferior. Even when the leaves unfurl in the cup, you can easily see the Republic of Tea version from China has lightly fermented leaves that are mostly green, not the well fermented brown. Skip this brand and buy the Tealyra version from Taiwan.

Real Oolong - leaves expand. Tolerates multiple steep. Second is pretty good, the third is tolerable and better than plain water.

Tastes a little too perfumey to drink straight, but pairs incredibly well with simple syrup or Torani Lavender syrup in a boba. Can steep 2-3 times without losing any flavor. Will buy again.

The smell alone of this milk oolong is heavenly. The tea has a smooth, creamy texture and delicious flavor. It is by far my favorite from The Republic of Tea. Worth every cent.

This tea is pretty good , but i did need to steep it just a little bit more than other teas from this company. The shipping was lightning fast. I have to say i do love amazon prime , it is worth the money 💰 for what they offer. Thank you soo much.

Very smooth! My husband will not drink any other brand of tea. I have been drinking this brand for years and will continue. It has a nice aroma and flavor! I have tried others which do not compare to this brand!

This is the third time I have purchased this specific Oolong tea. I have found no other that matches which is why I splurged on the large bag.* :-) *If you haven't tried this tea yet I wanted to remind everyone that most oolong teas can be brewed three or more times. Therefore, do not throw away the leaves after just using them once! The first cup is amazing (just 2 minutes on the leaves), the second cup tastes as good, a bit milder (4 minutes on the leaves), and the third brew still has plenty of flavor and I'm guessing, very little caffeine if any (I leave that 8 minutes on the leaves).Where most teas give you one nice cup this one gives you three!
