My cats go bonkers for these! They are like fluffy, puffy pork cheesy poofs. I like that the ingredients list is short and mostly of USA origin, and is made in the USA. This also doesn't seem to bother one of my cat's food allergies, which is an added bonus, but your mileage may vary there.

Vital Essentials Freeze Dried Raw Pork Entree & Mixer Cat Food Soft Nibs, 12 oz: My cats have never had freeze dried raw food before, so I knew this was a risk. Per the instructions on the bag, I offered it in several forms: original pellets, pellets broken into crumbles, and rehydrated (soaked in water). Unfortunately every one of my cats refused to try it in any option. The ingredients and the process for preparing them seem to be top-notch, though, so I don't fault the food. It might be because my cats are so used to processed cat kibble. (I have also tried the chicken flavor of this item and my cats passed on that as well.) I'll have to see if other cats (or dogs) in the neighborhood might be willing to try these. Made in the United States.

I will start this review by saying that 12 ounces of dehydrated or freeze dried food is actually quite a lot of food. One of my two under-sized Persians loves freeze dried food of nearly any brand. The stinkier it is to humans, the more she seems to like it. So, when I ran low on the brand I normally use, I thought I would give this a try. It was a major success.Each night a bed time, I give her two of these over-sized pellets and I break them into small pieces and place them in her 'smart-toys', and she is motivated to go through the effort to find the morsel, so I know she likes it. And at 2 pellets per night, this looks like at least a 3 month supply if not longer. The food itself seems legit, as does the brand, the added nutrients are a bonus. though, like any food, we are trusting the suppliers to use the ingredients they claim to add.As of now, I am planning to purchase this food again as long as she remains so enthusiastic about eating it.

When I ordered these, I thought they were treats, so imagine my surprise when I saw the size of these things. By the time I read the package, the cats had smelled the chum in the water and were crying for a taste. Out of pure interest, I gave them each a whole piece just to see what would happen. My young one is picky, but he went right for it. He wasn't sure how to attack it, so he just kept licking it until it crumbled. My old man was more aggressive and held it between his paws until he could bite it. All in all an entertaining experience. I'm still not sure how I will use these - occasional whole treat, broken partial treats, or food sprinkle. While the cats will like any option, I doubt I will re-order due to value. $36 (at the time of review) is simply too much money a half-filled 12oz bag of cat "is it a treat or isn't it" consumables.

I don't really know what happened. The bag was just inside an Amazon bag and when I opened it it threw all this sawdust/dusty stuff all over me. I'm not sure if it was actually sawdust, dust from the bag maybe being opened, or dust from maybe another product that was next to it before shipping.After some analyzing and dusting it and myself off over the trash can, it didn't seem to be opened or have any punctures. The product has a good shelf life, i believe it said 2027, and its a pretty big bag. Definitely going to last a while for the price depending on how frequently you use it. I've never given my cat pork before and thought he would maybe like to try something new. I put a few pellets into a dish and he was super skeptical of it at first. Probably Moreno because of the size of the pellets. He did try it and ate it. The texture of the dried pellets must have been a different experience for him but he seemed to like it enough to finish the samples I gave him. Not sure if pork would be a change for longterm, but maybe a topper for every now and then. But I know I love this brand for their other products like the cat treats so I know this is good stuff.

Cats are cats, so of course only two of my three like it, but the two that do are big fans. I've also tried other products from this company and found this formula to be softer and the pieces are larger. The soft might be great for older kitties with bad teeth or sore gums, but I would break up the pieces so they aren't so large. Nice food overall and made with good ingredients without carby fillers. It is stinky though, so be ready to wash your hands if you touch it!

This is a great way to add some variation and added protein to your cat's diet. My cat gobbled them up before I could hydrate them but next time I plan to add water first. They are made from organ meat and come in a convenient resealable bag. When hydrated you receive a decent amount of product for the price. I also noticed that the price varies by flavor. Pork seemed to be more expensive than some of the other flavors. These are grain and gluten free and made and sourced in America, which is something I like! These also contain vitamin E and fish oil. I am opting to add these as an occasional topper to my cat's regular food to add some variation to his diet. Interesting product I 'm glad I ordered and will likely order again!
