I purchased this primarily for its advertised functions as a heat gun and torch, so I can't speak for its performance as a soldering iron. But with that solder tip removed, this thing is a sputtering, loud, uncontrollable piece of absolute garbage.First of all, it doesn't want to hold a flame. You have to crank it WAY up to produce that blue spike, and even then, it blows itself out in seconds. Looking for a nice, silent, small, gentle blue flame for delicate projects? You won't find it here. All it wants to do is vent off wasted butane while keeping the heat it does produce inside the glowing catalyst - which, by the way, remains hot enough to reignite itself when the gas is turned back on for a dangerously long time after you shut it off.Then there's the gas control. There is no steady crescendo of range from low to high - it starts at a hissing, spittingly loud level right off the bat, and seems to just meander between that and screaming banshee levels at random across its range.Next, let's talk about the fuel filling port. Whether you're used to filling butane tools / lighters or not, this thing will make you feel like you must be doing something wrong. It shoots gas out everywhere, and you don't even know if anything is actually making it into the tank - especially since there's no fuel level window on this unit. I figured it must be one of the alternate-sized ports, so I tried every butane tip adapter known to humankind, but nope - nothing can achieve a proper seal with this tool's injection port.Finally (not really - I could keep going with all the different failures of this thing), this sketchy little ba$ta®d stinks: It gives off a horribly noxious odor that isn't just butane - something is burning in there.I made the wrong choice when I picked this cordless butane iron / torch from the limited field of options, due to its relatively low price and the reputation of the Weller brand. Well, this first experience with Weller will probably leave my opinion of that company forever tainted.My advice to you is to look elsewhere and not repeat my mistake. I'll be returning this and spending the extra $10-$15 on something that actually does what it was designed to do.

Quise que me gustara este producto por el buen concepto... pero no enciente con la chispa y es MUY difícil encenderlo. La marca es buena, pero este producto en específico, NO.

It's small and portable, doesn't leak, and ignites pretty easily. Gets the job done. My only gripe is that replacement tips from weller are discontinued so it might be difficult to find, but then again it's pretty easy to DIY tips.

This product is an accident waiting to happen. It has no off/on switch. The cheap plastic lever that is typically used to regulate heat level is also used to turn off the gas. No click. Hisses after you shut it down.Other than that it works fine. It gets plenty hot to solder and the point is well suited for fine work, although it comes with just one tip. The auto start is a real convenience and works well. It does not come with a stand but can sit OK on its base. Made in Taiwan. Fill tube is metal, not plastic like a BIC. For the price I would consider it a good deal. Arrived in two days from a local store.

I bought this to do some soldering on some wires in my RV. The first time I filled it with fuel, it only lasted a short while. I discovered I needed to allow the fuel more time to load. The lighter button worked perfectly, and after maybe 10-15 seconds it was hot enough to use. There is an adjustment valve and shutoff to regulate the temperature. The tip is removable in case you just need some hot air. No fuel is included with it, so you need to purchase separately. It's a handy little unit, very light and short, so you can get into close places if necessary. There's no visible flame, but it glows red-orange from vents near the tip. So far, so good. I like it.
