well made and structurally sound. HOWEVER, there is no rubber seal. The seat is stainless steel against stainless steel. It does not hold pressure using water. Slowly leaks about 1 psi / minute. If it had a rubber seal (internal o-ring) I would highly recommend it as it is sturdy and well built.

Great for use with a water pump.Ever have to pump water from a basement or something similar from the floor up thtough a window that is nearly 10' high and then farther up a hill that is ablot 30 feet higher before it goes over the hill and starts downhill?Ever shut off the pump and have all the water in the hose drain right back into the basement? It's not just annoying, it's a lot more work. This check valve solves that problem. It's very well made. Fit, finish and construction are good. Can't find a single thing wrong with it.I like that it's 304 stainless steel. That virtually eliminates corrosion issues.Don't forget to use teflon tape on the threads unless you like leaks. While the operating temperature range is excellent, they make no mention of operating pressure. I find that unusual but since the pump I'm using only goes as high as 150psi, I should be good to go.Very good deal for a quality product. Easy to recommend.

This works exactly as designed prevent whatever liquid you're pumping from backflowing back to wherever you are pumping from. This has applications in pumping water or transferring fuel where contamination is a concern. It's a very simple device that works well, and is priced well.

Use it to replace an old ball and spring check valve on a ancient Frankensteined built compressor. It was easy to install, it's solid material, function's perfectly and was a great price, and no leaks!UPDATE! After installiing this and taking notice of my compressor I noticed I was losing around 20lbs of pressure overnight. I checked for leaks at every connection/fitting on my compressor, no leaks. Once I disconnected my copper line at the compression fitting before this item I discovered with leak detector solution it has a very small leak. So yeah not 100% leak free.

Bought this to install in my motorhome. The water pump builds pressure, and delivers great water, and the 'accumulator' holds a reserve of water under pressure. But the pump allowed water to slowly seep back, dropping the pressure, and causing the pump to cycle every few minutes. So, I imagined adding a one-way valve to prevent this backflow would be the fix. Due to space limitations, I need to add this on the 'suction' side of the pump. When the unit arrived, I tried blowing air through it -- in the free flow direction -- and believed the spring might be too forceful. After all, this was going on the low-pressure side of the pump. So I thought I could separate the two halves of the valve, and shorten the spring a bit to reduce its pressure.Long story short, because the valve had been assembled so tight, my wrench deformed the hexagonal lands, compressing two sides of the threaded opening a pipe fitting must thread into.OK, so I ruined that one. But the unit impressed me enough that I ordered an exact replacement.≈======================================EDIT: Well, I thought it would work . . . .Turns out, the check-valve works by seating a stainless steel piston against a circular rim around the inlet opening. Except that because the two stainless pieces were never "lapped" together with polishing compound, and the machining left significant uneveness on both surfaces, the check valve function is no better than my aging pump. Water still seeps back through the pump to the low pressure side, causing the pump to cycle every few seconds. Nice idea, just not executed carefully enough.
