The work. Wish they held more water. But they are useful. Helps me measure how much water I am putting out on the lawn weekly.

These are very straight forward. You simply place them everywhere you want to measure your sprinkler coverage. They measure up to a couple of inches which I don’t water that heavy. I leave them in various areas of my garden to measure rainfall over time. What is useful is to leave them out to measure sprinkler coverage over a period of time, for example, one week with multiple watering. They work well.

I didn't need 10, nor do we have a lawn that we water, but I've been wanting a rain gauge and now I have extra that I can also gift as an accessory to other gifts... a hose, pre-emergent to retard weed growth, or "just a rain gauge". Not something one typically purchases for themselves... at least I haven't and been meaning to for years. It's well crafted, sturdy, easy to read and to insert into the ground. I've enjoyed checking it after each (smattering) of rain we've had in our arid climate. Happy to have it!

Simple enough rain gauge---you stick it in the ground and then go look. The max measurement is 2 inches. The plastic is too brittle to be able to attach it to a fixed object higher up for easier reading.

This set of rain gauges is just right for testing the distribution of a sprinkler system. The gauges are good quality should last a long time.I tested my system by placing each gauge in strategic areas on the lawn and then I ran the sprinklers. I gained an awful lot of information on where the water was going which allowed me to adjust the nozzle sizes to even everything out. I also found that a consistent "dry spot" was actually a spot that the landscapers didn't install sufficient topsoil. No amount of water was going to fix that! This set is great for just this purpose and the price is very fair.

Good quality, quantity, and value when needing to set up a sprinkler system.I really had no idea how much water I was putting down and where until I stuck these in the ground.

If you have an irrigation system, you’ll want these to fine tune your water durations. Our system has different types of sprinkler heads and this set was enough for me to test multiple zones at a time, which is efficient. The cup size is fine and the plastic is not brittle. The stakes went into the ground with little effort, but I’ve been watering a few times a day to germinate seed. The cups are easy to read and I like the yellow color because they’re hard to miss. Overall a helpful product that will help me ensure the lawn is getting between 1-2” of water per week.

In past couple years, we experienced some prolonged dry periods where we watered the grass on a weekly basis. Our goal was 1” per watering. We use a combination of oscillating sprinklers and hand watering with rain-type nozzle on the end of a hose. The question for us is how do we know how much to water with the different methods. This 10-piece set of rain gauges is the answer. We can put them around to calibrate how long to run the sprinkler or hand water. We also use them when we expect rain to see how much water different parts of the yard – especially those areas near the house – are actually getting. We’re not sure that our primary rain gauge is fair representation for all parts of the yard. They are easy to push into the ground because of the pointed spike. That spike has four fins on it, which is a brilliant design feature to provide stability to keep it from becoming tilted or falling over.
