I got these for a project that would go through the washing machine several times and they work like a charm.

Clearly these beads will be used for tying some nymph flies. Tungsten is tungsten and these are nicely dense, so full marks for them.I tied up a couple simple nymphs to test out the beads. At first I thought the beads were too small for my use, but the tapered holes definitely it on the smaller hooks sizes (#14 here). These flies haven’t been field-tested yet, but they do feel heavy enough to get to the bottom. The mottled appearance is nice, but the variety of colors included may be more than is needed.

With my limited set of hooks I can confirm that the 4.6mm beads are a decent fit on size 6 hooks as in photo with MFC Wide Gap Streamer Straight Eye 7050 #6 hooks. They may work on a size 4 but all brands are different and if you are using barbless hooks then you might get them to fit onto many more hook sizes. In the photo I have weighed them and on average the 4.6mm beads weigh .7 grams. I also weighed some Hareline coneheads that are brass and they come in a .6 grams (but are made to fit much larger hooks). Additionally, I weighed some dumbell eyes for Clouser minnows made from iron and zinc where were larger in size that were 4.8mm (I think they measured diameter of eyes) and these tungsten beads at have more weight for their size. Tungsten weighs more than an iron + zinc alloy. For now, I cannot speak about the durability of the paint job.The colors look good and I don't have any complaints on that.
