HVAC Fan Blower Motor Resistor

Problems with a blower motor resistor are common in many cars.

The most common symptom of a failed blower motor resistor is when the heater fan only runs at high speed and doesn't work at low speeds.

In some cars, a failed blower motor resistor can cause a heater fan to stop working completely.

Excellent. Just like OEM part. Fit and fixed A/C for 2013 Nissan Rogue S... Blowing cold and hot air again... Getting to the part to replace the module ... That is tricky part.

Went with the low-cost option to repair a neighbor's high-mileage Nissan Pathfinder. At 183k miles, no reason to buy the $200 dealer part or even the $75 aftermarket part from a name brand supplier. This was about $25, guaranteed for 12 months (wish the Pathfinder would 'guarantee' them at least another year!) and it was a snap to install. Glovebox comes out with six screws and voila! The auto temp AC is blasting again. I did install a new fan as well though the old one would spin if I hit it with 12v. At nearly 20 yrs old, the fan has to be sketchy as well. Well worth the money and fast delivery to get the job done on time.

I bought a fan and a resistor for replacement and took it to a mechanic. It took 2.5 hours to replace them, thanks to the location on Nissan Rouge.Everything worked fine when I drove out of the repair shop. The very next morning the fan was blowing at full speed no matter what is the adjustment on the fan speed. It keeps blowing even when I turn off the fan. Now I cannot turn off the fan. It keeps running as long as the car keeps running.I went to the mechanic again, who said the resistor is faulty and asked me to buy a better part. :,(

there's a rubber ring around the part that goes between the resistor and the housing the screws feed into. I couldn't get the screws in, so I ripped it off. Oddly, the screws still didn't go in, so my dad gave me slightly fatter screws. Those worked. Is it this or is it the blower motor? Change this first and see. It'll save you the misery of dealing with the blower motor if it works. If somehow you knows it's the blower motor, then you might as well get a new one of these in there while you're down there.Theoretically, you could remove this part on a Nissan Sentra without removing anything but the plastic panel covering it. This is extra, super difficult. You can't see where the screws are and barely have room for your hands, much less a screwdriver, to get anywhere. I recommend just removing the brake/gas pedal assembly. It's 4 nuts on long bolts, a weird bolt thingy with a plastic wing lock on it and a cotter pin, and 3 electrical clip plugs. I had trouble turning a few nuts. Other than that it was easy to remove and put back together.
