We've never had a stovetop or machine version, as we've always and only had a regular coffee brewing machine albeit the very good kinds. I've always been curious why espressos are popular so I jumped in the bandwagon and tried my very first espresso - totally a culture shock from regular mom/pop donut coffee shops and regular coffee brewing. I didn't know there was that much difference. I loved the resulting espresso that is very very flavorful vs regular coffee, however I'm not used to low quantity as I always brew 10 to 12 cups of coffee almost daily. This is certainly good enough for enjoying that one afternoon or a relaxing weekend with a biscotti. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This is a nice pot, but the quoted 4 cups aren't what I could get from it. At most, I would say 3.It's a little fiddly to wash out, and it's more of a swish than a proper clean. The only way I found to clean it properly is by using a sponge on a metal handle to fit inside.Overall, the quality of build is half-decent and the taste of the coffee is great which to me is the most important factor here so it drops one star for design.

Impossible to clean thoroughly. Lid does not remove completely causing grounds to still remain. I threw it in the trash after hurting my hand trying to clean it without being able to remove the lid.
