I ordered this hoping for the best but with low expectations. I already own long handled scrapers as well as a magnetic cleaner, so wasn't sure this would provide much more cleaning ability than what I already had, but was getting a bit desperate with an ongoing algae problem. What this has that my previous magnetic cleaner didn't is the blade, and that alone has made an enormous difference! The blade wipes the algae off nicely! It lift algae right up in strips when it gets especially dense, and is oddly a bit therapeutic to use. :) I have a 36 gallon bow front glass aquarium and have not had any issues with scrapes or scratches to the glass using this. It maneuvers pretty well around the corners and various equipment/ornaments in the way. I do lose it in the tank fairly often, but it pops right back up the the surface. (Another feature my previous magnetic cleaner didn't have - floating! Serious game changer.) I am able to keep the tank much more consistently clear with this one simple change. Very glad I gave this scraper a shot!

I will say, the scraper blade isn't the best, but for the most part it gets the job done! I do wish there was a way to detach the blade altogether because it makes it a little difficult getting in tighter spots.

I bought a 60 gallon tall tank a couple of years ago. The tank and the stand made cleaning the glass a problem. I needed a step stool just to get to it. So I decided to try the Yaubay aquarium magnet glass cleaner. Per the instructions, attach the scraper blade, place that part in the tank and use the handle side on the outside and go up and down (vertical) with the cleaner. Once you get to the bottom, just flip the handle around and start up. If the blade side gets knocked off, i does float to the top. I changed from plastic plants to real plants and the real ones came with an algae that was very stubborn. The cleaner took that all off in about ten or fifteen minutes and did not scratch the glass.The magnets are strong, so watch the finger putting it together and taking it apart. Also, if there are items around the house sensitive to magnets, keep the cleaner somewhere else.All in all a great item.

Most of the time, a product does more or less what every other product in the category does and minor differences in style or construction determine the choice that each consumer makes. Aquarium glass cleaners went through a huge transition when the floating magnets first came on the market because, up to then, a scraper with a brass blade was used from one side to clean the other and, if your aquarium is against the wall, that meant the front was a real chore and the choice affected how close to the glass one could place plants. One can have an environment that is highly conducive to plant growth and still end up with algae on the glass, in fact, I would be very surprised if an environment that was great for plants did not also have algae growing, in order for it to be a competition, both have to be able to compete, right? Algae does grow fast if given half the chance so, in a naturally planted aquarium --particularly, when you have exotic plants that were collected in the wilderness in Malaysia or South America and bring their own algae-- one has to stay on top of the glass cleaning because, for some reason, algae loves growing on glass. I have a smaller aquarium that is home to a female Betta and I use a more conventional glass scraper in that one and I can say without a doubt that if I left it alone for a few days, in spite of the heavy plant population, the algae would probably spill over! Still, that conventional magnetic scraper makes the chore, A chore! The magnet is just not that strong; considering the small size and surface area, they should have used a much stronger magnet. The scraper can't even make past the corner without floating away! This is no small deal, putting your hand in the aquarium again and again is not good for the fish; fish can be expensive. It was completely ineffective in the larger aquarium which is somewhat frustrating given that most of the time, the scraper just sits there. I came to accept this state of affairs because that is just the way it had to be --or so I thought.The yaubay aquarium magnetic scraper is in a class by itself! It did not merely scrape "some" algae, it really cleaned the algae as completely as it is macroscopically possible! I mean, it was effortless to leave no trace of algae anywhere on the glass! The magnet is strong enough to warrant care when first placing it because it will pull off your hand and slam onto the glass. Nevertheless, it is the strength of that magnet that makes this aquarium scraper so effective at cleaning the aquarium because it will clean more than just algae, it will scrape hard water lines right off! The handle is very comfortable to use and makes it easy to force the scraper forward when you need to in order to scrape something really tough right off! The position of the blade is such that it will reach into the corner seal so some care is necessary when using this powerful cleaning tool However, the glass in my neglected jungle/ heavily planted aquarium is SPARKLING! The algae was thick and growing all too well but this aquarium scraper plowed through it all with aplomb. Afterwards, moving the scraper felt just the same, in other words, it plowed through all the algae like it wasn't even there! That also really says something about the strength of the magnet! Even if you have a small aquarium, it would be easier to use this scraper to do the larger cleaning and use a little one for what little there will be left to do than trying to clean with a scraper with a weak magnet and no blade! Incidentally, the place where the blade mounts is molded in and the blade snaps in place so it isn't going anywhere, it will scrape like the first day until the end of times, the blade is titanium! In the "big" aquarium, this scraper is something I wish I had owned well before now because it truly is the best aquarium scraper I have ever owned.
