I bought this to try a different way of making floating shelves. It works perfectly. I do recommend practicing on some sacrificial pieces of wood first to get you spacing down. Once I dialed that it , it was a piece of cake. They are extremely strong.

Have been using on exotic hardwoods as well as domestic hardwoods, with grain and cross grain - works as expected. I set my table depth about 1/32" shy of full cut which makes for a nice snug fit with no room for error. Full cut leaves the V-notches a little loose. I think this is a benefit of the bit design. This gives me more options/flexibility for set-up. V-notch is 3/16" so you will loose approximately this much width per joint (depending if full cut is used or not)PS: Diagram is upside down - larger diameter of the cutter is at the shaft.

Nice! No burning or tear outs. Be sure you have a speed controller to slow down your router, this thing is pretty big. Came shipped with a wax on the entire bit to protect it from dings and rusting. This large bit must be used in a router table. I also recommend good dust collection and ear and eye protection.
