This bit is pretty good. It goes through the wood pretty easy, even old house wood! It took me a minute to figure out the correct speed for it, however it is pretty good. I think it would work better in an electric drill but I got it to work with my battery powered drill. It is a little bigger and heavier than I expected so I took a star off for that, however I would recommend it others.

Does the job but hard to make it go through wood since it gets stuck and reversing it is even worse, however it makes perfect holes in one go to run cables through.

Bosch quality drill. You can’t go wrong. Just make sure it’s the right type of the product for you. Other reviewers addressing pulling into the wood are correct. Drill does all the work for you. Precision is ok. It’s definitely designed for rough and very quick drilling.

The question is, are you brute enough to handle this thing? I put it in my cordless 18 volt drill and was drilling through 2 x 4 SPF studs on 16" centers. It did a wonderful job! Just BE SURE to keep a good grip on the drill.

Long lasting in a pro environment. Construction site. I still use the very first one I bought over 4 years ago. This is just a spare because I lend mine out all the time. The cutting is smooth, very low impact on my hand drill, batteries last longer because of ease in cutting. These bits pull itself into the wood which reduces fatigue on my arms.

The auger point quickly pulls this into the wood and as a consequence, you need a fairly high torque drill. My 18V drill works, but it quickly goes through batteries....they seem to last about six holes. My corded Milwaukee just smiles.The holes are rough on the exit side. If you need something cleaner, a forstner bit is the way to go. OTOH, this isn't the bit to use for fine carpentry and you don't really need something clean when you're doing framing! I definitely prefer it to a spade bit. They both make holes, but has much more metal and is much stronger.

I'm generally a fan of Bosch's bits and these Daredevil auger bits are no exception. They seem to hold up well and they are very aggressive. With the right drill speed, I find these bits are easier to start a hole with than some other augers.These bits come packaged in attractive two-part cylindrical containers, which screw together solidly and feel very classy.Be aware that the blue colouring on the bit begins to wear off almost instantly and into the wood; this is typically a problem with all coatings.

Have had great results abusing this bit for a while. Works best with a large corded drill on low speed. Not so good in a battery drill. This thing bites hard and requires a little torque to keep chewing. Have hit several nails but still remains sharp. This bit is hole making beast.

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST auger bit I've ever owned (in any size, shape, or form). It chews right through wood, and unlike the incredibly expensive Milwaukee augers, this Bosch one isn't destroyed by a nail or two. In fact, I've been through WELL OVER A DOZEN NAILS and this auger just keeps on boring right on through like it's never going to go bad.If I see a nail where I've got to drill, I'll certainly remove it first, but I don't even bother wasting my time extracting any hidden nails I come across while drilling. There's no need to. This auger bit doesn't seem to mind them at all. Hardened deck screws may be a completely different story, but this bit goes right on through 3-inch framing nails like they're just almonds to be chewed.One time, when I hit a nail, I hit it again and again and again countless times (once on each revolution) as this bit gobbled its way through without slowing down. As it turned out, the nail was in-line with the hole I was drilling and all the tiny steel chunks (of the nail) dropped right along with the pile of wood chips. Did the drill bit care? I was so impressed by this bit that I bought the other available sizes just to have for eventual use. They are sharp, aggressive and very rigid in their construction. I didn't have to use any forward pressure once the bit was started. I drilled a series of about 20 holes that required the majority of the auger to be used, and the bit was as sharp on the last hole as it was on the first. I will touch base again, as I will use this bit for doweling various woodwork together over the next year or so. If they charged double it would still be a good deal.

I do a lot of installations in attics and sometimes the long augers are just too long to get into those tight areas. This is were the shorter ones excel! There's really not much to explain. It's a fantastic auger that is sharp enough is doesn't require a whole lot of torque to bore into the wood. Not much cheaper than a long one, but sometimes you don't need the extra length. Comes in a nice little case that makes from simple storage.
