I'll tell you why. I thought I could save a life. This is the worst thing I've purchased this year. I doesn't work because they don't eat it. It's very sticky and messy. Just get some liquid B-vitamins from Rooster Buster. Maybe some poultry cell, That's all.

Whenever I ship chicks, I include 3 oz cups of a poultry gel to keep them hydrated. I have previously used pre-made gel and have always been very happy with that. I recently ran out and purchased this as a quick substitute. Overall, the gel does what is is supposed to do. It kept my chicks hydrated during transit from North Carolina to California. I don't feel that the gel will feed as many chicks as they say, though. This bag makes quite a bit of gel, but I went through it quickly with only four or five shipments of 12 or fewer chicks. I provide plenty of cups, 2 to 3 depending on the number of chicks. I expect this is quite heavy when compared to the mfg's directions. Given that, I think the cost of this product is fairly high compared to what I was using by Clear H2O. Overall, though, this gel will keep your chicks hydrated & is a good choice if you are in a pinch.
