Sounds great as bridge position strat tone. The sound has more beef in the mid and low end and is certainly louder than typical single coil, without the 60 cycle hum.

Who would have thought that I would have like a Paul Gilbert model pickup for country and blues? Apparently, Keith Urban feels the same way! I had a Fat 50's Fender pickup in the bridge before, but it was too shrill for my taste. Very bright, and I had to fuss a lot with my EQ in sessions when recording with it. This pickup tamed the ice picking highs, yet still offers clarity and sings very well for enthusiasts of lower output pickups. On top of that, it's hum canceling which I'm not usually a fan of in pickups, but this one is incredible. Highly recommend for modern country, blues, pop, and rock.

This pickup sounds terrible. I do like the neck version though.

definite mid-range bump over standard strat single coils. hotter and delivers more grit than standard pick-ups also, but not too much like some of the other overly aggressive hot pickups. These are nice and full for rock or blues tones.

After trying many different pickups for my HSS, Highway 1 Fender Stratocaster, I researched the Dimarzio site for a good bridge pick-up that could muster the push and quiet of a humbucker but also posses the sonic qualities of a single coil. Not one to be limited by any type of faithfulness to 'vintage' sound, I looked into the more modern types of hum-cancelling pick-ups (regardless of whether they be full-size humbuckers or single coils) and found that the Injector was what I needed. In terms of frequency range, the balance feels just right: clear highs that cut through, mids that allow for presence and grit (and good harmonics), and more bass response than your typical single coil. After watching some youtube vids of Paul Gilbert demoing his own signature guitar which was loaded with the injectors (bridge and neck), I decided to pull the trigger. Dimarzio offers pre wired (and solderless!!!)pickguards for Stratocasters with different combinations of pickups, so I got me the Injector set, and I'm loving them. The stock pups on the Highway 1 were lackluster to my ears, but with the Injectors, the guitar feels like a living thing. Great bite when you dig in, the output is juicy and heavy distortion is handled very well. No hum. When I back up the volume the sound cleans up nicely and the tone control can tame the highs further by rolling it back, also giving the pickup more of a real humbucker tone. The clean tone is not as glassy as a regular single coil, but you do get the clarity and 3-dimensional sound associated with a clean strat, only with more output and a warmer tone. I suppose if you match this pickups with 500K pots you can get even more top end treble (and I'd like to experiment with that eventually, on a different guitar), but with the 250K pots normally found in strats, this pickup still shines. If you are a fan of single-coil clarity but want a strat pickup that can handle modern gain, this is a great option. Warning, though: although it sounds great for any style up to heavy rock, I can't say it's an appropriate pickup if want to use it for more extreme, metal types of music. Think Van Halen, not Pantera.
