I bought this Dorman switch assembly for my 1999 F150 Lightning because another reviewer said that at night the backlights on the switch glow green like the factory original switches. The switch assembly I received does not. It has a super bright white led backlight that is really distracting at night. I ended up staining the letters on the switches with brown leather dye to tone them down to match the brightness of the dash lighting. It was an easy half hour job to replace the switch assembly after disconnecting the battery, and is completely accessible by simply removing the 2 bolts holding the steering wheel air bag. It takes some time pushing back the plastic trim pieces to slide the flat wire harness into position, and then routing the wiring through the places it needs to go, but it is fairly straightforward. Some youtube guys make a big deal out of this repair and say you have to pull the steering wheel off and all the column trim, but you don't. So if you want the soft green backlight of the original Ford F150 Lightning switches, you might want to pay the crazy high price for a Ford factory original switch assembly.
