Bench primed with a kit no problem only depressing plunger one inch. Mounted on vehicle and had helper pump brakes to bleed them and noticed fluid coming from the back of the cylinder. Also, when removing from box one of the four top snaps was broken off. I could have lived with that as it still sealed but a new leaking cylinder not so much. I was in the automotive aftermarket for 35 years and actually sold Dorman products for much of that time. I'm disappointed in this example of today's quality.

It was difficult to find a master cylinder for a 78 Oldsmobile locally. This cylinder was a perfect fit, the Olds stops like it did 45 year ago....

Didn't fit perfect. Had to swap my old retaining clip into the new housing. New clip would get pushed out of place when brake is pressed. PAINT BEGORE INSTALLING!!!! Hasn't been installed for 2 months and has fash rusted FAST. Not a huge deal just inconvenient. Other than that works great!

When installed I was unable to bleed it. So I removed it and found the piston depressed and held by the retainer cir-clip that had been pushed in by the power brake rod. I had a second M990312 master cylinder that I then installed and had the same result. Then I checked the original master cylinder and found that it had a wire piston retainer rather than a cir-clip. So I replaced the cir-clip with the wire retainer and the master cylinder worked as it should. If the master cylinder had had the correct piston retainer I would have given it a five star rating.
