It works well on different sized cans. I've used it for the typical 12oz cans, tall thin 11.5oz cans, and tall 16oz cans. The compactor is sized intelligently so you can use it on the thin cans without trying to crush two cans at once while still working for full sized cans.I will say I wish the bin was about 2 cans shorter to make it a bit less inconvenient; to be below cabinet door height.The biggest drawback is the adjusting screws. It has the threaded knobs screwed on to small flat philips screws with nothing preventing them from turning with the knob and this makes adjusting more of a hassle. I have a side screwdriver tool which lets me do that. Perhaps having screws with a gripping or square head or nut would help. I understand it can't stick out into the bin. I just leave it tightened in the full length position and it works well enough for a couple of cans at a time. Screws are M4 (4mm) x .07.
