I purchased this product at the beginning of the growing season to help keep my garden watered throughout the late spring and summer. It worked well for 2 months then all of a sudden no longer worked. The switch valve inside the machine clicks to open the hose to water but it does not let water through anymore. Despite troubleshooting, I cannot get the unit to function and for the price I expect more than 2 months worth of watering. I reached out to the seller weeks ago and have not heard back. Buy at your own risk.

Lots of timing options. Good connection to standard three-quarter inch faucets. As far as I know it does not have built in pressure reducer so for those who want to use this to connect to a 17 mm drip irrigation system instead of a gardening hose, you may want to put in a pressure reducer . I had some trouble closing the battery cover although my son was able to close that in a second. Using the system for a week and so far so good. It’s working great and doing the job. I used an adapter to connect it to a 17 mm drip irrigation system from Netafim and it’s working well.

I am very happy with these timers. I have 3 in service and the newest is the one I got here in 2016. The other two are several years older than that, although I don't know the exact year of purchase. Each year I use 2 of these to run watering for several fruit trees I have planted and they always function flawlessly. A third (I don't have them marked or anything) sees use elsewhere around my property (one of the other drip runs I have). I've yet to have a failure.I also use several other timers around the place and the only thing keeping this one from being a full 5 stars for me and from being the only timer I run is the lack of a custom length manual mode. It does have a manual button but all it seems to do is just run the already set duration. I have some situations where I want to "tell" the timer to run for a set time each time I run it manually. Many other timers allow this but this unit does not.

This item was shipped on June 3, 2016 and installed about a week or two later. It worked beautifully for NINE WEEKS!! On August 15th I noticed that it had stopped working. I flushed out the filter and installed a new battery but I could no longer program the different options. It just seemed fried. It would only let me choose one "start" and that was it - I couldn't even choose the days as the menu wasn't engaging. I had gone away for about about 2 weeks and most of my 800 sq ft. garden is now on death row. I'm really ticked off - It's so awful. I just tried to return it online through Amazon, but the company policy closed the return option.I am hoping they connect with me and take this defective one back after I reorder.I am hoping they are honest and stand behind their product. Today is Aug. 25, 2016. If they don't I will definitely expand this review. To not even get one season out of this thing is horrendous.

I purchased the 9001D 2 months ago. I have waited to write this review due to the criticism that the plastic hose attachments break off. I had used Orbit timers (and still do but they have low length of time cycles whereas the Galcon can run for 12 hours) and learned the lesson that the plastic connectors will break if attached directly to a high-pressure faucet or hose bib. You can see them flex when the high-pressure water hits them when they turn on. Obviously they will break after time if one's water pressure causes them to flex. When I added flexible hose extenders/kink protector -- problem solved. Simply attach the flex extender to the faucet, attach timer to the flex extender and (in my case) attach another flex extender to the timer, then connect your drip line. I have Orbits running for over 5 years with no plastic connection breakage since using this set-up whereas they broke with some frequency before using this setup. So far same story on the Galcon. Here is Amazon's flex/kink protectorhttp://www.amazon.com/Green-Thumb-FX1GT-Protector-Extension/dp/B000BP7M4G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437355396&sr=8-1&keywords=flexible+hose+connectorIt would be helpful if Galcon mentioned this set-up in their instructions.

This is the third time that I have purchased this model for my drip system at home and at our cabin for a single line drip system, you can't beat the reliability and ease of setting up of this model. Last year, I needed a drip timer for home, and purchased a DIG plastic model at HD. Don't buy this brand if it it is still available!! I worked at a water utility for several years and know how to fix leaky pipe joints, but this model would not stop leaking using pipe tape or pipe dope. To recognize it, it has blue plastic parts and is model #HW F1 / SW 1.31. I know you will be happy with the 9001D timer.Update 2016, went to buy one for our vacation property and this year instead of $28.30, it is now listed for $39.64!!! What is going on here???New supplier taking advantage of us, the consumer. Thanks Amazon for letting this supplier rip us offTom Bauer

I am using in conjunction with a Contech CRO101 Scarecrow Motion Activated Sprinkler (also sold on amazon) to keep the deer away from my flowers. I have tried everything from barbershop hair clippings, deer off, dried blood, but to no avail. This hose timer allows me to use the Contech CRO101 Scarecrow Motion Activated Sprinkler too keep the deer away. The reason I use the timer is so that I do not get sprayed by the sprinkler during daylight hours when the deer are hiding and I am likely to be in yard working. So far this switch is very easy to program and allows me to set it to be on for the entire evening and off for the entire day just like I wanted. Several other timers had much too short of intervals, but this one allows for up to 12 hours.Edit 8/24/16 - So this thing worked well while it lasted but lasted just over one year. The relay would not stay on when supposed to, turns out just the battery needs changed. Hard to tell otherwise because digitally still works perfectly, just needs more power to support relay for water on.
