I only use bottom felts on my cymbal stands, and purchased this set to replace felts that were almost twice as thick. These did the trick because the cymbals mounted on the stands where I used these felts are more resonant and open sounding. It's the small details that can make a drum kit sound good - and for me these felts represent one of those small, often overlooked details that can make a noticeable difference.

I’ve been using Zildjian L80 low volume cymbals for some time and have always had issues with the 16” crash dropping out too quick and the ride having dead spots and sweet spots.The cymbals have a realistic feel, but those two issues always annoyed. With that in mind, the concept of these washers was enticing and so glad I tried them.Thin cymbals struggle with chocking if too much comes in contact with the bell also and being low volume, the L80s just seemed to struggle more. With these washers, so little touches the bell that the cymbals open up nicely. The bells ring out nicely as well.I’m surprised no one thought of these washers earlier, but I’m sold. As other reviewers have said, the cymbals move about pretty freely. I’ve run my cymbals without top felts for a long time, so I’m pretty used to free moving cymbals. With these, I went back to using the top washers installed with plenty of play. That brings the movement very close to cymbals without top felt washers. All in all, there’s just nothing odd about how the cymbals move if you are used to playing without top felts.Price wise, they are definitely high for rubber washers, but I’d still say worth the investment. If you’re playing in loud environments with heavy cymbals, I can’t say they’d make a difference at all. For thin cymbals and quite environments, they definitely make a difference. I’ve tried them with my HHX Evolution cymbals and can hear the difference there as well. Especially on the smaller cymbals.
