Very clever design, I don't use it for plain lunchmeat that seems boring I use it with cream cheese and chunked ham, onions and jalapenos to make sandwich slices. I guess you could say similar to quiche but I don't use eggs and don't need to with the pressurized mold the cream cheese packs down during cooking.

This ham maker is a killer for homemade deli meats. The stainless steel construction is durable and easy to clean, and the upgraded thermometer ensures perfect temperature control. The included recipe book and cooking bags are a great bonus. I've made delicious homemade ham and other deli meats with ease. To be honest, I had low expectations here. But wow, this is a super sturdy and well made item. I expected thin and flimsy metal. Not at all! It is really well made.Definitely having the thermometer is a must have if you don't want to fret about knowing if your meat is done cooking.The spring is strong but not so much that it makes it hard to close the lid. I have wrist issues and can do it.Prepare to be creative as the "recipe" isn't much of one. Cut up meat. Add seasonings. Pack into canister. Allow to cure. Cook. Yep. That is about it. LolIt does include bags/liners. I have seen people not use them and successfully release the finished loaf but have heard others grumble about it being difficult to release. Find your groove I guess.Formed deli ham is the most common use I see. But other meats and bologna are definitely options as well. Weirdly I have been craving some mortadella, so that may be on the weekend agenda.The diameter is a nice size for a typical commercial bread slice.If you are curious about making your own formed deli style meats, give this one a try. It is not a huge investment and it is very well built. You might really have fun creating your own deli meats.

I bought this particular brand because I wanted the larger thermometer. Unfortunately, the thermometer doesn’t work and there is no way to calibrate it. I am disappointed that I paid more for this one. I could have just bought a less expensive option. It worked great for cooking the meat in but I did have to use a thermometer that I already had.

This deli meat maker is a neat device! It's simple and easy to use. Just put meat in there, set the spring plate, and cook it. It's not really like deli meat that I buy at the store, but it's close enough and tastes good! I didn't get any metallic or plastic taste, and I didn't have any trouble with the meat sticking to the pot. I did use the included bag, and it helped a lot. I'd be tempted to spray it down with non-stick spray and try without the bag. I find I like the whole meats better than the ground-up meats. They hold together better when I use a deli slicer on them. The ground meats turn out more like canned ham than deli meats. Being new to making deli meats, I was hoping for a bit more help or recipes from the instruction book. It does not include any info on making Salami or bologna. it does include recipes for Ham, Chicken, turkey, beef, and Head cheese. The Ham, chicken, and turkey recipes are the same for whole meats or ground meats. There are essentially four unique recipes in the included book. Overall, it's kind of fun to use, and the meats taste good. It's a good beginner kit, but you will need to look for recipes for any fancy deli meats you may want to make.
