My alarm company wanted to charge me $149 to come out and install the same switch. Saved a lot of money doing it myself.

Installed in 30 minutes. Replaced old switch that was broken. Spliced to existing wires, screwed sensor to door frame and it worked fine

The switch was slightly larger than my old switch. I had to rasp out the hole a bit. It worked perfectly once installed.

Had to replace a door switch and this fit perfectly. Took only 10 minutes to install and works better than the original.

The roller/plunger switches I used in the past were brass and functioned flawlessly. This one sticks, failing to trip alarm for this particular door. Motion sensor backups will ultimately cause an alarm, but failing to trip with the opening of the door has caused some issues. It does seem to become more reliable with the passage of time, but alarms need to be 100% reliable.I'm not sure that an alternative exists as a roller, this one was used to replace a magnetic reed switch that was in a vulnerable location--too easy to short out and defeat.February 14th, 2020--Valentine's Day. I thought this switch would get more reliable after it was broken in. It has not. Suggest buying a different switch.

I had to replace this myself when I got a new front door. The alarm vendor wanted $200 for what took me literally less than 10 minutes to replace. I particularly like how easy it is to install the wire contacts. you'll need a tiny regular screwdriver, but slip in the wire and screw the setting and it's done! The plastic is a little flimsy so be careful when you install it not to snap off the outside part where the screws go through, but once installed it's as good any your alarm company would install.
