The JJC LH-S2860 BLACK Lens Hood consists of an adapter ring (Ф40.5mm) and a petal style lens hood.
The lens hood is designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens.
The non-glare matte finish on the inside further prevents or limits lens flare. No vignetting will show with the hood on.
The hood can also be placed backwards over the lens for more compact storage.
The hood allows you to put on a Ф40.5mm filter and a Ф40.5mm lens cap.
With the extended lens end, you will also benefit from extra protection from accidental impact.

The hood and filter mount is fine, image corners are bright. But unlike the product image on Amazon implies, there is no front lens cap included and the lens cap is what I needed, so I returned the product.

There does not seem to be a Sony version of this hood. The way this fits is kind of goofy because of an adapter that allows this hood to be used on 2 specific Sony lenses (16-50 and 28-60 FF). Hood does clip on, but not easily, and certainly does not want to come off to store reverse on the lens.Not confident I will get years of use out of this item.

Machined ring threads into the lens filter threads. You can then put a filter over that. The hood itself press fits over either forward or stored backwards. Quite nice actually.
