UPDATE: Because this is now my favorite kalimba with it's rich sound and ease of layout, I ordered a second back-up one before they sold out. For me, this Waltert-42 key is a game changer with it's pure, clean sound, additional available notes, convenient layout, and ease of tuning. It leaves my other 17-key and 34-key kalimbas in the dust. The additional sharps and flats tines exponentially expands the horizon of playable songs. Thank you Waltert!

On Dec. 30 I ordered this Waltert Kalimba and received it on Jan, 3. I was amazed at the size of it. Waltert did a lot of thinking on this Kalimba. After a few days, I tuned it and I had work to do in it. Not that it was in bad shape, that was amazing shape, it was those little holes on the back, the tines were so tight that I had to use a hammer to move the tines After this was done, the sound was great except for 3 tines. The B', C'' and E''. After a little work on them, the B' is a little soft sound yet but the C'' and E'' sound great. If anyone wants a 42 note Kalimba, This Waltert Kalimba is great in Price, sound and looks.

I had a smaller kalimba, the typical kind with a soundbox. However, with so few keys, I was needing to tune it differently in-between each song I played (I play a lot of songs with alternate tuning). After receiving this spot GORGEOUS solid board kalimba, this one is the only one I'll be using from now on! Obviously, the huge amount of keys means that I don't have to tune it between every song. The solid walnut wood back is not only very beautiful, but is also easier for my small hands to hold for extended periods of time than a kalimba with a soundbox. It also just sounds lovely, once tuned up to your liking. The case is DEFINITELY appreciated - I live in a tiny home where there is no room to leave instruments sitting out, and I travel withy instruments frequently, so the case offers more protection without having to keep the kalimba in a tacky cardboard box.Comes with plenty of accessories, including a pin to use with the hammer to tune the lower set of keys.

100/100First, this is NOT a “cheap finger piano”. THIS is a very high quality instrument. The construction is SOLID with very high quality components. It even comes in a really nice semi-rigid fitted case! No one would be ashamed to pull this baby out and play. It’s heavy enough to feel good in your hands. You know you’re playing an instrument not just holding a little box. The sound is phenomenal. I’m amaze it gets such nice loud tone without some kind of sound box, only the solid wood soundboard. Tuning is “easy” and they provide the tuning hammer. A very accurate strobotuner app can be downloaded from any app store for your phone and that can be used to tune this kalimba very accurately. In no time, you can have a perfectly tuned, playable, and beautiful folk instrument.Ultimately, is it worth the price? YES
