I initially liked the device because it was small. But it is not convenient to use. The button presses do not make it easy to use or switch modes. I used initially and left it unused for a long time. After a year from the purchase when I started using it again, it started immediately shutting off showing "Error 280". There is no manual or support to fix this. I changed the battery twice and no use.

Great little laser distance finder on the whole. The menu system is pretty simple and quick once you get the hang of it. That being said it comes with a wrist strap for a reason - I dropped it from about 2 ft while taking some baseboard measurements and that was the end of it. I'm not really that upset as I don't expect much from something at this price point but I did expect it to be able to handle a few bumps and knocks. The case is a really flimsy / thin plastic and isn't designed for anything but really light duty. Also good luck finding a support or company website - my googling didn't turn up much. All told if you're using it for construction or on a job site then pick up a Bosch.

Already used the P1s for more than 2 months, it works perfect for me.It supports multiple functions, such as length, area, volume, pythagorean,even height, electronic level and 10s delayed measure. P1s is very easy to use with just two buttons , and the test results are highly accurate and reliable. Moreover it has real time measurement and the oled screen display is very clear even when conducted in the bright light environment, already recommended P1s to my colleagues.

This is not my first laser measuring tool but it is the most compact and easy to use. I have now built projects in California and Central America and it has performed perfectly. I love the 90 Deg adapter to easily measure by setting on the edge.A small learning curve to figure how to change shapes it keeps the data you need. I wish the directions were printed larger for my old eyes but the 2 buttons that do everything are easy with a little practice. I have bought another one for my appraiser wife. It is just so compact it makes it so much more useful.Buy a couple they are a bargain.

I originally found this laser measuring device through their Kickstarter. The early units were a delight to work with. Enough so that I started ordering them for my coworkers. The latest version, as sold through Amazon, has the fractions issue solved, and seems plenty powerful enough to use outdoors. The compact form factor makes it easy to slip this into a pocket to have in the field and the easy operation? Seriously who does a powerful tool with one button anymore? Works like a charm. We use these constantly measuring interior spaces that are different configurations every single day, and 2 co-workers and I agree, these are the way to go. Light, small enough to carry all the time, great battery life, and an easy menu to set-up and use. Area calculations and other advanced functions just make my life easier. They are now coming with a periscopic attachment, called a Smart Switch, a clever little solution to turn a 90 degree measurement without moving the unit. I strongly recommend this laser if you need a robust professional tool, that doesn't need to impress with size, just with flawless operation and utility.

I have thus far just played with the P1s laser distance measure. The device is small enough to fit in the pocket. Besides the simple distance measurement the device sports a few extremely useful features:+ While measuring distance displays an angle off being level, so it can be used as a simple level in a pinch;+ Option to set up measurement from the back or front end of the device - so you can point it from one wall to the other and measure the total distance directly;+ Measure distance, surface or volume+ Has an attachment to measure the height bouncing off the mirror 90 degrees down+ The most useful mode is to compute the length of the 3rd side of the triangle by measuring the 2 other sides. This gives you the way to measure distance between any two points. The only issue I have with the device is that in this mode it has to be held so that the side with display is pointing exactly up. This is where the attachment to affix the device on a tripod that come sin the package is absolute must. Otherwise the computed distance way off. But if used o the tripod this works perfectly. In fact this is my only gripe - that this mode doesn't work without being attached to a tripod.+ Delayed distance measurement so you can place the device somewhere, start the 10 second timer and walk to the other end of the wanted measurement and hold something so the device can take a measurement and you don't need anybody to help you with that.All in all, this is a perfect addition to my toolbox.

I discovered the first version of this product, the P1, on IndieGoGo, and it has proved very handy: compact, easy to use, and accurate. But this new P1s solves all of the little annoyances of the first generation while retaining every feature that made the first one good. The biggest issue was that the first was clearly designed for global use and the metric system, as the feet/inches display was obviously an afterthought (display was in x.x feet, rather than x feet, y inches). This new P1s displays feet and inches when set to the American system. The only downside is that the numbers are not as large as on the first version, but the OLED display is very readable in any condition where I've used it.The device is compact enough for me to keep in my every-day bag, so it's always available even when I don't have my full complement of tools with me. The so-called "smart switch" is just a mirror, but it's really handy for measuring flat surfaces that otherwise wouldn't have a surface to bounce a laser off of. The integrated level is really handy, too.
