This stud finder detects the stud from 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch from the center the of stud and sometimes its spot on. So basically it's not accurate or when it's is it's not consistently accurate.Also it will detect where a stud is and then you go to that same spot and it's off by 1/2 to 3/4.I bought this new but it had scuff marks on it.Horrible product, stay away.

This unit was obviously used because of the scratches on the bottom. Also, scuff marks on the side from hand use. It works well.

I got this stud finder to safely mount a large TV. I followed the instructions to calibrate it, and it worked pretty accurately. It pinpointed the center of the studs and even located the one with the electrical wire. As a result, my TV is successfully and securely mounted. I highly recommend this tool. It works great, and I’m very happy with the results. I've used it in other projects too, and it has been giving reliable results.
