Rubber boot had to be completely removed from unit to fit in housing. Lube did not help. Grill needs redesigned to rotate like original. Tap test from good SM57 to this one sounds approximately 1 octave higher on replacement. Loss of low end.

Bottom line is that this is technically a functional replacement cartridge for an SM57. If you've managed to break one of the toughest mics available, good on you. This will get it working again, but it sounds nothing like a 57 at that point. The noise isn't terrible, however handling noise is increased. It's really treble-heavy with very little bass or body. I struggle to think how I'd even use the mic any more. It's a tough call. Unless you want a project for the sake of screwing around, maybe just keep your old mic for parts.
