Very durable and efficient at digging. I used this auger not only to plant, but to dig some deep roots of a 10ft tree to remove (even though this probably wasnt advised by the manual) and it did so with no issues; made the job a lot easier. There’s cheaper listings for earth augers out there, but I’m glad I spent a bit extra for a quality item that will last me a while. It’s also by a family owned company that’s passed down from generations which is always great to see.

The tulip bulbs I plant are about 1.5 in wide. This 3 in wide auger is just the right size to loosen the soil around the bulb to ease sprouting. The 7 in depth is perfect as my bulbs generally need to be planted at a 6 in depth. Very sturdy construction. I use this auger with a Dewalt 20V drill, a very nice combination - powerful but not too heavy.

I used this tool to drill holes for my plants going in the garden. I don't till the ground, but rather just dig holes where I want to place seeds or starts and add soil amendments-compost, manure, perlite, worm castings, etc.. This tool sure saved my arm, elbow and wrist from have to use a small hand shovel to dig the holes. I just had to keep plenty of batteries charged for my drill. I drilled probably 400+ holes. I like the pink color cause it makes me smile, but it does wear off the blade edges pretty quickly, as to be expected when drilling into the ground, I guess.

It looked like a good idea at the time.If you pay close attention the the lead photo it shows this auger being used with a Dewalt Hammer Drill. There is a reason for this.If your garden bed is soft loam this auger will work fine with a lightweight drill. But if you need to dig into Texas clay a Hammer drill will work better. Some augers have a triangular bit at the bottom to dig into hard ground. Augers with a cone shaped tip will just sit and spin, unless you have a two handed drill.I'll give it to one of my neighbors and let them play with it.

I purchased this product to put in garden plants that I had started in 3.5 inch pots. Our short season necessitates starting everything indoors, then rushing to plant outside as soon as the weather allows. Wish I had bought this sooner. While it isn't hard to dig in tilled soil, this allowed me to put in what would have taken the better part of the day in just under an hour. I was able to "drill" a whole row of holes, spaced just as I wanted them, and pop the plants right in with zero shock to them. They spent less time sitting out while I dug little holes. It seems to be made well, and does exactly what I want. I chose this product over others similar to it because it was made in the USA.

To be fair, the first time I used this it was in very heavy clay and it didn't do well at all. However, the next area I planted was still clay, but much less dense and it did a good job. Unless you're working with perfect garden soil (in which case planting would be easy anyway) there's going to be a learning curve in using, but it's a very small one - this isn't brain surgery after all.All in all, it's a very sturdy, well made tool that mainly gets the job done. And you've got to love the fact that it's made in America by a small, family-owned firm.

I received the product earlier than expected, packed very well in a nice box. Instructions are included and I think it is very important to review them as it is more safety information than 'how to'. I grabbed up my drill after reading instructions and headed to some trouble spots in my yard. I live in Central Florida so rocks are not usually a problem. However, sometimes the yard can develop hard spots where the grass will not fill in and the surface is extremely hard, almost like clay. If it is a large area, you can go at with picks, shovels or whatever, but most of the areas I needed to tackle were 4-6 inch circular areas. This is just perfect for those areas! I had all that needed to be done within 45 minutes. I've always been reluctant to plant bulbs and I already know that this is going to be perfect for that task. When you have arthritic hands as I do, with very diminishing strength, it is a joy to find something that will allow me to continue to do the things that bring me satisfaction. This tool is so very well made, impressive weight which helps break through tough top soil. The overall length is perfect, keeps me from going too far below the surface. The blade pitch is perfect, it lifts without throwing dirt everywhere. This would make a great gift for your gardening friends (as long as they have a variable speed drill). I can't believe I can't find anything I don't like about this tool. HIGHLY recommend.

I ordered the Power Planter for use in my vegetable garden. It arrived on time, well packed and in perfect condition. The first thing that got my attention was how hefty and solid the unit was...the craftsmanship was very nice as well. I used a 1/2 inch cordless drill with a drill bit extension to plant potted vegetables. The larges pot was about 19-20 oz. The unit worked as described. You need to keep a very good grip on the drill in case the Power Planter binds on a rock or root. By moving the drill back and forth while moving the planter up and own in the hole, I was able to make holes for plants that were significantly larger than 3 inches in diameter. Before the Power Planter, I had to fight the clay in the garden with a small hand shovel...difficult and time-consuming. The Power Planter is very fast and far easier. I am very satisfied with this product. The extra money I spent was well worth it for a quality product made in the USA and I highly recommend it.

What a fantastic tool, we wanted to plant 100 dafodil bulbs in the grass verge outside our house which was hard after a hot summer and full of roots, with a good quality 18v drill my wife and I completed the job in just under 30 minutes with very little effort. It is so good I am thinking of planting another 100. It's a great tool, very well made and very easy to use buy one and brighten up some spring time verges.

Love this product, wish I had got it sooner before I planted 200 bulbs using a spade bit on my cordless drill...this makes a bigger hole...than using the spade.really need to use it in combination with the longer bit...I also bought...as you need width as well as depth!!!sure makes life a lot easier using these.Highly recommend them not just for planting bulbs..can use it for putting plants in hard to dig soil...which I tend to have.
