The straps on my Thule spare tire-mounted bike rack deteriorated from the sun. These cradles are a great replacement. The old cradles were in rough shape and the price of the straps alone was more than these cradles and straps. The old straps were not removable; these are. I can keep them in the glove box when I am not using the rack and they may last a while. The installation is tough. I used soap and silicone spray with a hammer and a 12" piece of 1x2 lumber to install the cradles, after letting them sit in the sun for a while. They aren't falling off or moving on their own.

Lasted about 2 years. The straps all started failing around the same time. Even the straps that were never used. As I replaced the torn straps with unused straps they failed very quickly. I guess the material just gets brittle even if unused and kept in the garage.

Bought an older Thule rack for cheap, the original mounts have broken tabs so it won't securely hold the bikes. These fit like original and work great. Price and shipping was excellent

It comes with an extra set of straps and they work way better then my original Outback straps. They were very hard to get on until I made some simple tools to help. First, I cut a 2 ft section of 1" PVC pipe. I then used a 1 1/8" hole saw (1 1/4 would work too) and cut holes in two pieces of scrap 2x4 (put the holes near the edge of the wood). Then I placed the cradle over the 2x4 hole and used a mallet to pound the rack bar into it. Once the bar was all the way through, plus an extra inch or so, I used the pvc pipe to get the cradle the rest of the way down the bar.

I put these on a thule bike rack with 1 inch support tubes. Very tight going on but I believe that's by design. I wish that one side of the strap could be secured in locked position somehow. My 10 yr old daughters bike doesn't fit on like a full size bike and therefore the strap needed to be manipulated a bit to the side which gave me some concern. Other than that I'm very happy.

Fit great and far cheaper than replacing the Thule straps. I had two bikes fall off the rack with the old straps so needed to replace the tie downs. Had to use water with soap to get them on but most reviews had the same solution.

Bought these to replace the loop style that came on our rack. they were a little hard to get on the hyper tough racks but after some lube, they slid right on. going on eight months now with no issue. will post updates.

I bought these to replace the parts that came on my Thule rack specifically the straps that eventually start to crack and break due to sun exposure. Another downside of the Thule rack system is that the cradle piece that the bike rests on leaves a gummy residue on the bike that I haven't quite figured out how to remove yet. These replacement parts are a much harder plastic so I don't think that the sun will cause the same reaction in these cradles or the straps. The straps on this aren't as flexible as the Thule racks and are harder to attach but feel more secure after doing so. And if they break I can replace them several times over with the money I saved by not getting original Thule parts.
