These are heavy-duty steel struts. They are strong enough to support a substantial rack load. Not lightweight by any means. But I want "strong" in a rack, not "light". And they fit my Sunlite rack perfectly.

Got this to use with my burley piccolo mount. My bike is a step through road bike with bigger tires than normal, the design of it made it nearly impossible to use most child attachments. These were long enough to securely attach the luggage rack that my trailer needs to mount to.

Your question: will this work as an alternative to the EXPENSIVE tubus rack hardware?Answer: YES!**- you may want to find aluminum rack stays in place of the heavy steel included in the kit. All I needed was the clamping bit and for $16 and next-day delivery this works a treat! Fits the tubus rack stays perfectly! Depending on your rack you may have to file some clearance but these well-made mounts are a-ok!

I purchased other bike rack hardware earlier this year and all the components were aluminum. These rods are steel - very heavy. They also would not fit my rack from Ride1Up. I did use the connectors out of the kit but overall, I can't recommend.

This set of mounts is nice and long, holding the rack at a level for carrying panniers.

I bought these to replace some flat struts that had bent. Round struts are much more sturdy. However when I got them I realized how heavy they are and decided not to use them on this project. Maybe something else. Bought some aluminum ones instead which must be 1/3 the weight.
