Although this pan is pre-seasoned, I went ahead and cleaned it and seasoned it myself.Very simple - after cleaning, I coated all sides with peanut oil, then dabbed off any excess oil ensuring that there were no puddles (those will become sticky otherwise). Heated the oven to 400°, placed the pan upside down on the middle shelf, then also placed a cookie sheet on the lower tray to catch any drips. I kept the pan in the oven for 1 hour, then removed it and allowed it to cool.After it was cooled, I placed the pan over direct heat on the stove, buttered the pan, then placed two Italian sausages in the pan. The pan did terrific job cooking the sausages and also produced a beautiful sear all around. I turned the sausages using tongs, and had no sticking at all.I opted for this pan in lieu of the one with a wooden handle. I realize it costs a bit more, but I plan to use this in our gravity feed grill, and wanted something very durable. This fit the bill perfectly. I have no regrets, and I am very happy with this product. Highly recommend.

I love vegan brats and dogs, yes vegan. I miss that most cooked brats and dogs don’t have a cooked look when they are done. I preheat to 400-500 degrees on my Rec-Tec smoker and toss on the brats. I spray with avocado oil first. I rotate a 1/4 turn every 2 minutes and they come out nice an brown, crispy outside, and cooked perfectly inside. I now eat brats and dogs a whole lot more. I’ve drank the cool aid and I’m now a believer that this expense pan is worth the $70 I paid.

If you want sausage or hotdogs that come out like you grilled them outside, this is the cooker you need, golden grilled crunch or if you like, or the nice slightly blackened finish same as a charcoal grill, it cooks fast, don’t stray to far from the stove. I’ve done sausage, hotdogs and breakfast sausage, next will be bacon, this pan is not only fun to cook on, but easy to clean, it’s one of my favorite cast iron pans, those who complain about the bumpy surface, it does not affect your cooking and I’m sure that like other cast iron pans will eventually season to a smooth surface, believe me, you will be using your U PAN more than you think.

Made too heavy ? I have 3 larger cast fry pans which are a bit less heavy than this !

I will start by saying that this is a great product, good quality and great design. This product is cast iron, so if you are not used to cast iron, you may want to read a bit about cast iron maintenance before you get this pan. The pan comes factory pre-seasoned but I still gave it 3 or 4 extra coats of seasoning because I want to be able to wash the pan without worrying about the pan oxidizing. I rarely buy "uni-taskers", I use quotes because I guess you could use it to make meatballs or some other things but the pan is designed for sausages. I personally dislike when sausages curve during cooking and in flat pans it becomes difficult to brown them evenly. With this pan, I heat it up in medium heat, then add a bit of oil with a brush and put in the sausages and I use a press to keep the sausage in place. The sausages brown very evenly.In short: Yes, this pan is a “uni-tasker” and yes, with a bit more work you could accomplish similar results with a flat pan but if you cook sausages often this is a good pan that is going to produce excellent results when browning sausages and it is going to last a long time.Be aware that the pan is small, it fits 4 to 6 sausages

Yes did cook sausage through but you end up scraping sausage to turn over ( yes i did oil then I tried fat) then your left with broken sausage with no skin. I’ll go back to usually way so no Not recommend but would be great if it was none stick.also I’m a cook and know what I’m doing. Don’t waste your money

Does exactly what it says. Cooks the bangers beautifully. I’ve only used it on the BBQ and it’s great!
