This fly holder will not accommodate rods greater than a 7wt due to the diameter of the rear guides. Those will fit inside the tubes. Very disappointed because these fit on my golf cart perfectly. The product itself is high quality but their description was not clear or they simply didn't test fit larger size rods.

I bought this fly rod case that was supposed to be like new but opened. The box was not damaged but the case was. It would not shut properly, the closure did not line up so it would not close and therefore worthless.

Paid for NEW but received an open item that had missing bolts, lock, key and many other items gone. I expected quality when paying $670.00 for a Thule product but I was hesitant to buy as it was the "Last item in stock" but still took the bait and now I'm stuck with return shipping costs, FUN!!!

Pour le transport de cannes à mouche, mon moulinet le plus gros est de 2cm plus petit que le diamètre maximum alloué tel qu'indiqué par Thule, mais était quand même très serré et difficulté de fermer le couvercle.

This is the best travel rack for fly rods. Fairly simple to install and very secure during travel. 100% recommend this rack to any serious fly fisherman.

This thing is totally awesome. I was actually unaware that such fishing rod carriers existed. And of course, I barely had to browse other models to tell Thule would be a top contender.Construction is fantastic. Rigid metal tubes and hardened plastic casing make "vault" an acceptable term for this.One thing I didn't realize was that with this one (unlike the tackle fishing carriers), the length is not adjustable. The tubing is the same diameter for the entire length, so the two 5' sections connect in the middle with a compression connector tightened by hex screws. Because of this, you probably need to lock both parts of this to your rooftop rack, which leads to me locking......Locking this up is probably the weak point for me. This is unfortunate, because I always want better locking on any device, but this one isn't even as good as I might expect out of Thule. For one thing, it doesn't have the "one key" feature that Thule started using at some point (but you had to special order your device with your key type already if you wanted to go with that, so maybe consumers were too lazy to do it and the company gave up on it...not sure). Worse, though - and a real concern - is that this and my tackle vault use the same key, which leads me to wonder if I am able to open up and steal from any Thule rodvault I see out there in the wild? (Of course, I'd like to believe that anyone with enough money to buy a rodvault would be unlikely to steal fishing stuff from another person, but who knows...). Also, you need padlocks to lock the vault to the rack, which isn't that big of a deal, but I've seen other equipment with integrated locks that used the same key as the rest of the equipment, so it could be better.This is big and heavy. More so than I expected. That adds some sense of value to it, but it also has me rethinking my storage place, especially considering its 10' permanent length unless I want to disassemble it with every use.I'm also curious if this would hold some deep sea poles. I think so, but don't have any yet to try for myself.In conclusion, it's hard to not be impressed with this thing, and yet I see some areas for improvement, mostly in the locking scheme. It is hard not to give this a full five stars simply because of its excellent sturdiness and bringing a whole new excellent way to transport large, expensive poles with even a small car, and without having to worry about them at all, for the most part.

Honest review here.So ... my husband recently was carrying a fly rod in his car and had the tip out the window and forgot and rolled the window up...he broke the rod tip off instantly (ugg... sadly)! Have to send in for a warranty repair at Sage... So it was time to invest in the best rod carrier for our Volvo SUV... Hence the the Thule roof rack rod carrier.We found that this rod rack easily attached to our roof rack... literally 15 minutes or less for install. WE have been fly fishing for years and this rod carrier roof rack is amazing and well made to protect our reels and rods.This rod carrier holds 2 fully assembled fly fishing rods up to 10 feet with reels attached (reels 4.25 inches and includes the fighting butt). These carriers are also anodized aluminum rod tubs and offer maximum reel protection.WE carry 2 Sage rods and reels comfortably and feel so much better they are safely secured and not at risk in the car. Plus you can keep your reels rigged, pull up to the boat or beach and you are ready to roll (opposed to having to gear up when you get there). It's so nice to keep them safe and geared up... and not having to break them down either for transport is makes life so much easier!!!The fishing rod rack locks to keep your rods safe and secure. You can also lock the fishing rod rack to the vehicle but that requires an additional padlock you must purchase or a rig to lock it.It makes it so much easier to transport and not worry about breaking down your rods and reels for transport.Thule makes great sleek design too so it is not bulky and looks so chic in design.As flyrod fisher-peeps...we love to rock this roof rack and might have to upgrade to the 4 rod carrier! TIGHT LINES!

Instructions weren't completely clear on installation. Broke a rod tip with the lid slamming down.
