How To Use:
1, Holds your hanks or skeins of yarn in place as you wind them into balls. 2, Simply clamp the swift onto a table or counter top to start winding yarn neatly and easily. Starting with the umbrella in the down position, place the open loop of the hank over the swift and pull it lightly so the far side of the hank is against the center of the umbrella.
3, Then, use your free hand to slide up the umbrella clamp and open the umbrella to snuggly fit the circumference of the hank. Finally, secure the umbrella clamp in place and then wind away! For added durability, the swift features metal hardware.
4, The metal screws feature a plastic stopper at the end to prevent scratches when clamping the swift onto a table. For best results, use in tandem with the Knit Picks ball winder.

The style of this yarn swift is classic- it fits well onto the edges of surfaces of various depths, and it's easy to understand and use. It suffers from poor materials and weak build.If you don't wind a ton of yarn and just need something inexpensive to work with a couple times a month, this should be a great fit.However, mine broke after using it for less than a year, and I wouldn't say I was a particularly heavy user. The issue seems to me to be a combo of the fragility of the wood used (it bent/warped after about 6 months of moderate* use) and the weakness of the hemp connectors (which snapped randomly in month 11 in the middle of trying to wind up some woolly worsted yarn).Again, it may work really well for some folks' needs. If you wind a lot, however, and/or you work with 'sticky' woolly yarns or heavier gauges, maybe look for a different option.*I used it maybe an average of once per week, usually for fingering weight or sport weight yarns.
