These are a must-have for anyone adding wiring or plumbing to an unfinished wall. They will prevent the potential stupidity of someone tossing a nail or screw through your nice new wiring or pipe. Just toss a plate on the stud in front of where the wire or pipe is run and they're protected! These are good and thick too, so it would require serious determination for someone to get through.

Why buy them 10 at a time? Buy a box of them, you won't regret it! Cheaper than buying them at the big orange box store. An ordinary 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" nail plate, it works as expected. A few smacks with a hammer and they're in, easy as that.

These work like they should. Having the holes for nails/screws if needed is also a very nice feature and make them a tad better than other plates out there.

This 200-pack of nail guards is an excellent value. These steel plates are 16-gauge or 1/16” thick and provide reliable protection for wires and plumbing running through studs, meeting all the requirements of the International Residential Code. The stamped cleats grip the stud securely, but what sets these apart is the bonus feature—pre-drilled holes for screws which help speed up the installation. While not required by code, I like the extra security of fastening them with screws or nails in addition to the cleats. These 16-guage steel plates provide functional protection of hidden infrastructure in the walls. From a price and quality perspective, these plates offer great value, especially compared to locally available options—which often lack pre-drilled holes. If you want added security and ease of installation, this pack is definitely worth considering.

I built my own house and I am familiar with building codes, now I am helping my neighbor build his home so I got these for places where Pex and Romex will go though framing members. First of all, before I go any further, the paper that comes with these in the box shows them being used to hold together trusses... to be bluntly clear, ABSOLUTLY NOT!!!! These are NOT Truss connector plates and Absolutely cannot be used as ANY kind of gusset plate or to join two pieces of lumber together on any way! These are STRICTLY to be used as nail strike plates, to prevent one from accidentally piecing a cable or pipe with a nail or screw once the structure is completed and you can't see the wires or pipes anymore.. These have only ONE job, and that's what it is. Phew, glad that's out of the way. These work much the same as other nail strike plates I've used, and I've hammered a few of them into a Sothern Yellow Pine 2x4 and they were just as easy to install. They have two holes where you can use some short nails to hold them on if the built in spikes aren't holding.. this happens sometimes if the stud is warped or if the spikes happen to go into soft part of the grain... the holes are far enough away that you can safely use them to tack on the plate, and the fasteners will not end up in the hole.Like other brands of these, you cannot put your holes any closer together than 2-1/2" because if you do, you would need two of these, but the way the ends are cut, that leaves an unprotected area between them, so planning ahead of time for this possibility is required. I've even installed all the strike plates first THEN drilled all the holes later... that way if I have a stubborn stud that won't holt the nail plate where I was going to put it, I can just move it up or down a little and put it where I want.. then drill the hole precisely in the center of wherever the plate ended up.The dimensions of these are spot on, and they are thick enough to do the job, and the spikes are sharp enough to be easily hammered in. I think they are a good value and they function just as well as any other nail plate. They got a little carried away with the possible uses... They don't need to do anything else, they do the thing they were designed for very well.

These nail plates work great for protecting wiring or plumbing behind a stud. I am remodeling a basement so I used them on the studs - worked great. The tabs nail into the stud fairly good. I did have a couple that wanted to pop back out, so I ran a small screw in the holes next to the tab top and bottom. The price on these can't be beat. If you're doing any type of construction, these are a must. Awesome deal on these plates.

This is a great deal if you need a lot of nail plates. They're as thick as other nail plates we've used. Sure, you can drill through them if you try, but you'll definitely know you're doing the wrong thing. The spikes are sharp and they hold well in the studs even if you don't go back and add screws. They're galvanized for rust resistance. We used them in our workshop for extra wire protection even where not technically required - it's a workshop, things happen.

When you hammer the top in the bottom pops out, and vice versa. Would mess up the Sheetrock.
