I often go on road trips with my Model Y and bring out mobile charger with use to get a charge in wherever possible. Some of the places we stay at have NEMA 14-50 plugs but some do not which only have NEMA 5-15 plugs. This adapter allows use to convert out chargers NEMA 14-50 to an NEMA 5-15 plug so we are still able to charge our EV it’s the same charger. However you must remember that for a NEMA 5-15 it is only safe to draw 12A of continuous power. This adapter will let you pull up to 32A in the Tesla App because that’s normal when using a NEMA 14-50, but you should not ever go over 12A when using this adapter because you are plugged into a NEMA 5-15 plug which is only rated for 15A max but 12A for continuous use, for an extended period of time.

Good (maybe the only) option to allow a EV charger using L14-50P to tap in power from a standard 110/120V AC outlet. It's pretty thick and heavy duty, which is probably not necessary if just passing through 15A on 120V but doesn't hurt.

I use this NEMA 14-50R (receptacle) to 5-15P (plug) power cord adapter on my portable EV charging device (EVSE) so that I can plug it into a regular household outlet/receptacle (15A circuit) at my destination while traveling. This cord has a strong and durable design, and is built to last. I like that the handles on the 14-50R end make it easier to remove the connection. The cord's 5-15P end limits its safety rating for use on a circuit of 15 Amps, with operation on 120 Volts AC. My EVSE can operate at 120V, so it automatically adjusts its power output to 12 Amps maximum.

Using on a 14-50 charger with variable amperage to broaden its use when travelling. Allows me to plug into NEMA 5-15 and 5-20 outlets for 12A and 16A charging, respectively. Really increased the use case for our portable 32A charger.

I've been shopping for a second portable EVSE ("charger") with a NACS/Tesla plug. There is a little more selection if you're okay with a SAE J1772 plug, but those are quickly becoming obsolete. I was wondering if this adapter could save me $50 (the answer is yes). It's a simple and sturdy adapter. The handle on the back is necessary, since 14-50 plugs are so hard to detach.I tested with my Tesla Mobile Charger, and it worked as expected. I just need to cap the amperage in my vehicle to 12 Amps, and it charged just as well as charging with the native 5-15 plug. It didn't care at all that there was only 120V coming through what should be a 240V plug. This type of adapter does trick/bypass some safety features. If I let my car try to charge at 32 Amps it would certainly blow a circuit breaker or risk starting a fire. It's now on the user to set the current limit correctly (in your vehicle's charge controller), but as long as you do that this is perfectly safe and easy to use.Now I can get a $70 NACS EVSE and this adapter, instead of buying a $150+ EVSE.

So my charger have a 14-50 connector, and I can control the amp value to 12amp, so with this adaptor, I can charge off 120volt ! ETL Listed, and look good quality. You have to be careful to limit your amp usage (Unless your charger is smart and limit to 12amp if it detect 120volt, but I wouldn't trust the charger and this is outside of this review !)

This handy device allows me to connect my portable EV charger, making it possible to charge my car from any standard outlet. The 50 Amp to 15 Amp design is perfect for my needs, as I often find myself needing to top off my battery at home or while visiting friends. One evening, I had a spontaneous dinner invitation at a friend’s house. With the adapter cord in my trunk, I was able to plug my charger into their outlet without any fuss. It felt great knowing I could keep my car charged without disrupting their space. The cord is also ETL listed, which reassured me about its safety and reliability. Since integrating this adapter into my routine, I’ve effortlessly transformed charging into a hassle-free experience. I’ve found peace of mind knowing I’m always prepared for whatever my day brings, all while supporting a more sustainable lifestyle.

This review is for the Tarnavo Adapter Cord NEMA 5-15P to 14-50R with ETL Listed for use with Variable Amperage Portable EV Chargers. This product has one purpose and that is to allow a 120/240 volt EV charger to be used in a 5-15p female power outlet. The dual voltage EV charger usually comes equiped with a 14-50R male plug to be plugged into a 240 volt receptacle. If you go somewhere that only has a 120 volt socket, you can use this adapter to charge your car on 120 volts. It will take twice as long as a 240 volt power source, but it will get charged. The 14-50R end has some molded on loops to put your fingers through when unpluging it as it has a tight fit. The cable is 13.1" long and 100% copper, and the molded receptacles look good quality. I was able to charge my vehicle on a 120 volt outlet. It works as advertised, and at the present discount of 16%, it is a good value at just over $25.

I have a Level 1/2 EV charger that has a Nema 14-50 plug, so using it as a level 1 charger isn't easily achievable without an adapter. This adapter did the trick! In the rare case I need to plug into a standard household outlet I can use this adapter and use it.I charged my car for 2 hours and the adapter didn't heat up, so I feel confident with it. Feels solid, good hold in the outlet and prongs on the Nema 14-50 on my charger. The price is also fair so I'm very happy with this adapter.
