This reed is very hard. I would say it is probably similar to what a 5 would feel like if they made 5 reeds. If you can play on it it is loud!

I've used these for years, and for putting an AFTERBURNER on your baritone sax, try one of these.That said, you may need to sand the vamp and CAREFULLY near the tip, as these reeds (like Van Dorens and others) tend torun on the hard side.They literally last years, with care and cleaning with just your fingers and warm soapy water. (Just a bit).I happen to prefer the CLEAR standard model over the Bari Star, but that is strictly personal.You will be well served by these reeds, which will play better and better upon breakin.
