The inside opening of the so-called 40mm clamps I ordered actually measured 52mm across the bottom but could be easily distorted to 40mm and the height of the inside opening was 42mm. The inside opening of the so-called 45mm clamps I ordered measured 61mm across the bottom and the height of the inside opening was 58+mm. The take away is that they are a little wider than they are tall and there may have been a mix-up at the warehouse. Other than that, they look and feel sturdy.

I bought these as Home Depot did not carry a big enough U bracket to fit a memorial marker pole dedicated to my Dad on which we wished to hang a small American flag "barn quilt". The first picture is from July 12th of this year when I hung the barn quilt. The second picture is from two days ago. If you look closely in the background of the second picture that is the Atlantic Ocean and the Boston Harbor Islands right down the hill. So no rust in almost six weeks in a salt air environment, and getting back to Home Depot, theirs were zinc plated and would have had to been primed. (Note: I put some guerilla glue on the back side of the clamps before screwing them in place as back up support to keep the barn quilt rotating during high winds.)
