Fits like a glove. My 1st time every changing a starter on a car or boat. Location of my starter was a little hard to get to but just 2 main bolts holds this starter to the engine and then one small mounting bracket. Such a simple install and engine turns over and fires up so smoothly and nicely now.

The starter was a no issue install and performed as expected when I turned the key… great replacement for 4.3 L V6.

installed and works great -much quieter than the old one that was becoming untrustworthy. did not include new mounting bolts but old ones were still fine -no problems.

This is the OEM Starter for my engine, an i/o Mercury Mercruiser 357 bravo 4v.Ridiculously difficult to reach on my boat, but that isn't the starters fault.Once replaced, boat started right up. You need to save your bolts. The starter only comes with the nut for the battery cable mount. You will need to re-use the two, long mounting bolts, and you will need the nut from your original starter to re-attach the yellow cable adjacent to the battery cable.I purchased the one SOLD BY and SHIPPED BY Amazon. Since there are aftermarket starters out there (at about a third the price), I'd be nervous purchasing from someone you weren't familiar with in case it is a knock-off. Since mine is so difficult to reach to replace, I didn't want to chance a non-oem starter at a cheaper price.

Just installed and worked great! I will need some time on the water before I can give an updated review. But, overall looks and works great! Make sure to buy correct OEM bolts ,especially if going from the older style big starters to this new smaller, higher torque starter. The old bolts won't work unless you already had this newer style starter and are just replacing it. Boat starts faster, smoother, and quieter than the original older style starters. These new starters are half the size and weight with more torque. I had the old big 9 tooth starter and this new 11 tooth worked great, no need for shims, just bolted right up and worked great. I will update after a few days on the water.

The starter showed up quickly as promised and once installed on my boat it did solve my problem. Time will tell how well it performs but my expectation is that it will be fine. While it was not easy to install on my particular boat it had more to do with where it was on the boat than it did that the product was hard to install.

This starter worked fine. After a few months, it failed. I tried calling Mercury to initiate a warranty claim, since according to my purchase, the product was covered by a 1 year warranty. Mercury told me I needed to call amazon. I called amazon, and they told me I needed to call mercury. Then, I went to a Mercury dealer to diagnose and try to initiate a warranty claim that way. The dealer diagnosed and confirmed the starter was not functioning properly. The dealer then made a phone call (presumably to Mercury) and told me I needed to call Amazon. I then called mercury back and after much back and forth and frustration, they told me to contact ‘Quivers,’ a third party assigned to handle Mercury e-commerce sales. Quivers told me they could not help me, as they don’t deal with consumers. Needless to say, I am extremely frustrated that a product which claimed to have a 1 year warranty is impossible to return or exchange. Moral of the story in my opinion is DO NOT order a ‘Mercury’ product through a vendor like Amazon online. No dealer will be willing to assist in a warranty claim since they do not benefit from the sale. Buy from your dealer, and they will (hopefully) back the manufacturers warranty. Roughly $300 down the drain thanks to unclear warranty information and protocols.
