This LH-57 Lens hood is designed for Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR Zoom Lens. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens.

Very hard to attach and detach from my 55-300 lense. It’s very hard to put on and take off without fear of it breaking or damaging my lense somehow. It seems that these measurements may actually not be right for a 55-300 lense.

I was a bit reluctant to order this after reading reviews where people said it didn't fit their setup.Keep in mind that this shade fits a particular size of LENS, not a particular model of CAMERA. I purchased my 55-300mm lens separate from my camera body. I have other Nikon lenses which work with my camera body but require different sizes of lens shades.This shade snaps on and off of my lens easily. Honestly, I think it feels better than the original Nikon shade that I broke. I'm happy.

The OEM hood is $40+. This was a perfect fit for the OEM hood that broke. Reverses cleanly and works as advertised!
